Would the Whole dash from an 88 monte carlo fit in my 79 Camino?

The short answer is yes. There may be a few minor wiring issues thta will have to be resolved (the wire locations in the plug that goes to the gauge cluster if you are switching from the dash with the long speedometer to one with round gauges.

I agree with Mike, also aren't the wipers in the dash on 79 and not on the column like in a Monte

Besides the issues mentioned above. On a scale of 1-10 one being the lowest, how would you rate yourself on doing auto repairs? Here's some things to consider, the AC vents are different (you'll also need those out of the 88) the gauge cluster is different (the 88 has the round gauges, yours the sweeping gauge cluster. Somewhere on this site there's instructions on how-to swap gauge clusters. If you think you have the level of experience to do these things then go for it...you can make it fit

Well see im a mechanic im great with Engine and Suspension. Just started learning body work and really never attempted interior. but the dash in my Camino is split all the way through. any ideas on how to fix that? The only thing I could think of was replace but id gladly try to fix it if I knew how lol

Have you considered using a full face dash cover? They are ABS plastic and glue on over the exisiting dash. If you have found a good replacement dash at a good price, you might want to grab it anyway...no one is currently making replacement dash pads for Gbodys. http://www.honestcharley.com/late-model-muscle/el-camino-78-87.html?cat=127

I have done this swap on my Elky, but I ended up using the a/c parts, wiring, gauge cluster and steering column
