I just bought a 1980 Conquista (spelling?). The body is good, the interior is so-so, and the engine and transmission work.

It's been parked in a back yard since 2003. I guess that's why it won't idle very well. Probably needs a carb kit and new gas.

BTW, anybody know a good paint shop in Ft Worth, TX?

If it's been parked in a yard since 2003 with the same gas in it...I'm surprised it's running at all. Welcome to ECC Jack!

Welcome to the site. I have a 1979 Conquista. A little rougher than yours, I think. Pictures do not always tell the story. Depends on how far back you are. Yours looks great.:nanawrench:

Welcome & congrats on your new project!:texas:

Be sure to check the region 13 forum (especailly during the show season) for shows and get togethers. You don't have to have a show winner, just a willingness to hang out and get to know your fellow El Camino owners! I'm up in the north country near Paris, TX. Hope to meet you sometime.

Hey a big welcome. I know of a shop, not in Fort Worth but not very far from Fort Worth. The name of this shop is Smoky Hill Restoration. Phone # is 1-817-910-2955. Address is 5439 Old Granbury Rd. This shop is the one that I am having to do my 81 Grand Camino custom body work.

A belated welcome to the ECC & NECOA Forums! I was somewhat laid up at the time you joined, and I just got caught up and found you. We here in North Central Texas, the metromess, will be contacting you about get-togethers and car shows later in the season.

In the meantime, I can recommend the "House of Hot Rods", in Mansfield, 2301 Hwy. 1187, 817-466-9942 for an excellent paint job. Ask for Chad................Ken

Thanks. They sound expensive but I'll check when I'm ready.
