Any parts store will carry a thin round piece of chrome and then just glue it in. I wanted to keep my in my GMC and it was missing too. Looks great now and I know I'm a true dumpy when it comes to posting pictures and I've had plenty of offers to help me but I just keep putting it off. Michael

Are you speaking of the trim in the horn pad? If so, I found a replacement on Ebay a couple years ago. It was under $15 shipped if I remember correctly, and looks good.

There was a guy selling plastic repros on ebay. I bought one for my 78. Looks great!

Some day I will learn but for now that's the best I can do. Sorry if you don't like it but some people are born stupid and I'm ONE. Michael

Wow, calm down. No offense intended, I was asking anyone to post a photo since I have an original '81 steering wheel that needs the chrome strip too. I figured it would help all of us who need the trim to see what the replacement looks like. Maybe Bobby78 can help out?
Have a nice day.

Hey Gary...here's a pic of an original horn pad trim. I've got a couple or three nice ones here but will be using them in our projects. I too have seen them on ebay for around $15

It's plastic and painted silver/chrome.

I have made one before that looks almost original with a simple coat hanger. Just cut the long bottom piece of a large coat hanger and gently bend it to the shape of the wheel. It will stay down in the groove where the original plastic piece was pretty good with just a friction fit. You can paint or even polish it up to look like chrome too. Simple, Very cheap, and will get you by until you can find the real thing.

I'm retired too, I was just goofing around, did not mean it to sound as if I was upset. At my age, I don't worry about the small stuff or the big stuff, I just live a great life and I too served our country back in the 60's. This is mine first Caballero or El Camino and I love it. Michael

No, sorry, no pics as I changed that wheel out a few years ago for a Monte Carlo SS wheel.
