Hey Jack,
There are several clips that attach the door panel to the door frame, these have to be popped off. There is is tool you can get at almost any auto part store to do so or you can use a small v shaped pry tool to do the same thing.

Once you have these off, lift up the lock side of the door panel and then pull towards the rear of the car about 2 to 3 inches and that should release it. It might take a few times but just don't bend the tabs on the panel . Good luck with your project.

Lifting up is the key. I have done it many times.

You should remove the upper panel before the lower. If you have crank windows remove the handle with the tool designed to pop the clip. Slide the tool in from the handle side and position it against the edge of the clip. Cup your hand over the knob end of the crank handle so you can catch the clip as its freed from the handle. Next remove the lock button on the top of the panel. If you have pull straps carefully remove the end covers with a small flat screwdriver. Then remove the large phillips head screw at each end. There is one retaining clip on each side of the upper door panel. You need a clip removing tool for these. It looks like a little vee notch or horseshoe shape. Carefully pry the clip away from the door. Now lift out and up from each end where you just removed these clips. The panel should come right off.
Now that the upper is off you remove the lower by first removing the arm rest pad. There are 2 phillips screws in the area that your fingers grab to shut the door. Remove those and slide the arm rest pad rearwards and lift off. You should see a few more phillips screws holding the lower door panel. Remove those. Now work your door clip tool around the edges of the panel and pop the clips out from the door. Then slide the panel slightly forward to clear the door handle.
Under this there should be a heavy paper and behind that a plastic liner used as a moisture barrier. These are just stuck to the door shell with strip-caulk(dum-dum). Just peel these off.

I went to wall mart and got some clear plastic painters drop cloth then cut to fit. Any hardware store will have this and they come in different thickness also.

Also be sure and check that the drain holes at the botom of the door are not clogged up. Any type of sound deadner will be a big help also. I got mine from DixieMonte Carlo. Good luck with your project.

I used plastic from Lowes , Found if I used rope caulk and put a bead around the inner panel it held the plastic . I also went to the fabric store and bought some sound material and spray adheasive it on to the backs of the door panels. A little tight installing upper panel, but it all worked out fine.
