Is my 83 350 diesel worth restoring? I know it's a low production being a diesel 2.4% but what is the % or production on 4 speed combo? Is there any rebuilds on the olds 350 diesel that bring it update fro mit's faults of the past. Does anyone know approx value to a 20k investment? Thanks Bill I paid 1,000 for the car. Bed is fine, roof and and one piller rotted and not running now.:confused2:

If you mean 4 speed manual transmission, I think you may have a vehicle with a transmission swap. If the GM parts books I have are correct, the last year of the manual trans in the El Camino was 1981. The only transmissions listed for any 1983 are automatics. A 1983 diesel with have a "N" as the eight digit in the VIN, indicating that it was equipped with the LF9 diesel. If all of the correct four speed parts are there, the four speed conversion is worth more than you paid for the car.

oh it has a "N" in the vin so I know it's a diesel. Not worth restoring? 4 Speed must be a swap
