The little windows right in back of the door glass, I call quarter windows on the 82. I have a little rust under those windows, not too bad. I can't get to it good enough treat and repair it good because of those trim pieces at the bottom. How to get that little trim piece off?

They come off from the inside. You have to remove the B and C pillar plastic trim along with the window. Before you tackle that job you should buy some new seals. They're still available from GM for about $14 list. I've got the part numbers somewhere. The left and right are sold seperatly.

What is B & C pillar? I assume from what you say, I take all the trim off from inside then I can get glass out and then that trim piece.

L.D. -- All the pillars (main supports for an automobile roof) are labeled as follows:
A-- the front steel column where your door hinges are mounted on the bottom and on which your windshield sits in the top half.
B - The pillar after the latching end of your front door, where the weatherstripping is. C -- the wide sheet metal support that comprises the rear sloping roof line of the El Camino.

The same scheme applies to other cars and makes; the more doors, the more the pillar letters that apply.

Good luck on that repair. It can get a little hairy due to the small space that you have to work in. Be careful not to break the quarter window!

Hay guys thanks. I got it all apart and I'm glad I did. The rust was a little worse than I thought. I'll be able to fix it right now.
