O.K. a few of us went to (The Heights) car show last year. Funny story I'm setting next to someone whom I won't mention (Ken Rogers:poke:) and the judges came by and he said (see that? they didn't even take 2 minutes to check our El Caminos out. The next thing you know they were announcing him as a winner!!!!!!:nanawrench:

Back to the topic, they are having their show on Saturday April 16th. Now last year they mess up on the truck class. I WILL contact them and make sure that's fixed but if I can get a few commitments I'll see about an El Camino class.
So who's game!!!!!

My name is Donny Triplett. I have been to your last 2 shows. I really enjoyed them and I love when the money goes to a good cause.
Last year however there was a problem with your truck class. Only one class. That really upset some people. That’s too big of a class to seem fair to be judged. So I have 2 questions for you. One, are you going to offer more truck classes? And 2, if I can get enough of my fellow El Camino club members to come can we get our own class? If so how many would you require? Don’t get me wrong I’ll be there either way but for me to get more of my club members interested you need to have more than just one truck class.
Also I don’t see what the entrance fee is?
When you get a moment could you please respond?

Thanks for your support of the show.

We had an unexpected increase in the number of trucks last year. We have added another truck class this year. We now have a 1st and 2nd place award for 2 truck classes (pre1982) & (1983 and newer)

The show entrance is still $10 or 10 can goods.

If you can confirm 10 or more el Caminos we can put in another class for you. We would need to know by mid-March so it could make it in on the trophy order.

Thanks for your input. We do like to get feedback on areas we can improve on. We have to make changes every year and this year we recognized that the truck class needed to be tweaked.

DDD! How the heck is it all old friend!? April? Man, who knows. I tell you what, it's going on the calendar, and we'll take another look in March, what say? If it's colder'n heck, well, I'm probably counted out, I am a fair-weather player after all. Decent weather, well, chances are better! Same old car, haven't done a thing except try and adjust the choke so the beast will start in the cold (still takes a gallon of gas to get the big block warmed up, as I'm sure you know all too well!!).

So I got 4 for sures and 4 maybes which I'll count as halfs. So that makes 6, I still want 5 or 6 more commitments so I have to take my shoes off to do the math!!!:nanawrench:

How would everyone feel about my contacting them with an estimated 10 members but should any not be able to show the rest of us would make up the difference in the entrance fees? Remember it's either $10.00 or 10 cans of food, (and no Woody you can't bring the food you feed that dog on the porch!!!!:poke:)

Count me as a definite, Donny! It's a great show, made even better by the additional classes, for a great cause. We should be able to count on our usual outstanding crowd: the Terminator, Paul Edwards, Tsnumigregg, Grate Gonzo, the 'Gater, and two or three others, so I think you're safe with the OK message. In fact, Gregg should have his latest and greatest ready by that time, and I'm really anxious to see it finished.............Ken :beer:

I would like to confirm that at least 10 members from the El Camino Central car club I belong to have committed to being able to make the show. Furthermore we agreed that should anyone not be able to show the rest of us would gladly make up the difference in the entrance fee so you are assured of our participation. It will be one of our first shows together this year so we are excited about it. Last year we had 3 members enter and 2 others show up. We even recruited a new member from your show!!!!!!!!!

I plan to be at the Heights show.
The Pickups-N-Panels show on Sept. 10 is at the historical park in Farmers Branch. They said they would have a special area for El Caminos. I'm sorry that I'll be out of town that weekend but I encourage all of you to attend.
I am signed up for the GoodGuys show at TMS on 9/30-10/2. I'll be in the truck area.
