i was at the wrecking yard looking for a 3.42 set of gears and found a 7 5/8" 7.5 eaton govlock unit with 3.73s, in like new condition for 60 bucks! ( out of a 90 astro van... go figure) :P So needless to say i now need 28 spline axles. Can anyone reccomend an aftermarket brand?? Or are there possibly wrecking yard 28s that will fit in my 80? oh and btw there is an 8.5" limited slip up there also.. if anyone is interested let me know.

Moser will make anything your lil heart desires...but if it were me, I'd run, not walk back to that boneyard to get that 8.5. Did you ask them how much they wanted for it?

yes... they want 60 bucks for any complete differential in their yard... the same for just the ring and pinion, ring pinion axles, etc. I would love the 8.5 but cant find a housing that works without mucho modification. OK i checked Moser and its 299 for a set of axles... too much for this poor old man.. arg
