Have a 79 ELC and need to replace tank, recently purchased never run, how can I tell if it is a 17 or 22 gallon tanK :P

You really can't, unless you fill it up and measure, or have the original build sheet. However, most that I have seen or owned were 17 gal. Regardless, it uses the same sending unit and you can decide which one you prefer and order new tank straps with the tank.

ANy suggestion son where to get best buy on a new fuel tank, I have considred salvage yard but again it may have allready sarted to rust from the inside and then if not it still needs to be cleaned....

You can also go to www.Gastanks.com and get either size tank. They were at the Spring Carlisle show and have a great selection of tanks for just about any car or truck.

I have a question , what are the thoughts out there on buying a new tank or
goin gto salvage yard and get one.
