this summer i will be rebuilding a 350 to go into my 79 Elky. i also want to give it a posi rearend. so i was wondering if someone could tell me what the rear dif size and gear ratios are froa 79 Conqista. is it 28? also any tips on picking the right locker or going about making it into a posi would be greatly appreciated.

7.5" 30 spline 10 bolt. A good choice for a posi would be the PowerTrax device. Its a lot easier to install and cost about the same as a Richmond or Aubrun Posi unit and has no cones or clutches to wear out.

Good Luck

Wow, I would have expected it to be a 26 spline.

I would either get the Powertrax or a complete used rear from a Monte SS.

Ok, I'll just say that the factory rear end in my 80 was a 30 spline 7.5" 10 bolt. I am pretty sure they are all the same but then, I could be wrong.

I think its more odd that the PowerTrax is more expensive for a 10 bolt 7.5 than a 8.5 10 bolt by twice the amount. I paid around 399 for the PowerTrax in the 80 SS and the one for my 76 is only around 200 (a hundred and ninety something.)
