The stock carb was also computer contoled too. Since you removed all smog and have changed carbs i would go ahead and get a different dist. and remove the computer. What tranny do you have? More than likely its a lockup which is also controled by the computer, you can get a lockup controller to take care of that i knoe summit sells one from B&M for about 170.

200 without overdrive?
double check, I have not heard of it without O/D (200/700)
I am running a 305 without any of the smog stuff. I kept my computer and the th350 with lockup works great. I had a 700R4 lined up and had it stolen from a friends house ( )
yes, you will need a vacuum advance distributor, still easy to find them but make sure you go HEI, you will need to run a key on hot wire to the distributor, (looking at the top of the distrib. it is the spot on the right.) MSD box with it if you can.
(my next wish list item)
you don't neccesarily need to kill the ecm, it can still run the lights or guages, just make sure you keep the sensor wires good.
you will want to remove the electric fuel pump from the tank and make sure that you either tie up or cut the ground wire so it doesn't make cantact with the hot wire from the pump harness ( )
and the best money you can spend on your Elk is to get a Haynes or Chilton, (dealer manual of you can find one) Hope this helps

I'd leave the electric fuel pump. I'd remove the ECM completely, unless its required by emissions law to be in the truck.

The 200 THM is a weak tranny that was installed behind a lot of 6 bangers so you probably should go to a 350/400 THM or go OD with a 200R4 or a 700R4. I'd also upgrade the rear end gears to a 3.08 or better if it is a 2 series set now.

With the 305 a 350 THM would be just fine and last well behind it and possibly give you a little bit more take off power, not a lot but some.

Just my opinion.

if interested, I have a TH350 that is not being used.
with TV cable, torque converter and chrome pan even.
Have considered ebay but haven't gone through the motions yet
would take 50.00 plus shipping.
Don't know what it weighs but can deliver it on pallet to a local shipping dock.
point of departure would be Madison Wisconsin or Beloit Wisconsin/S. Beloit Illinois.
