With all the emmisions junk started in Pennsylvania now, I have to limit my 1981 elky's milage to something under 5k a year. Figuring that if I build a fairly streetable small block for it, I'll want to drive it alot. So I now I've set my sights on the big guns, something in the 454 and up range. My only problem is, I've never seen a 5th gen with a BBC in it to see exactly how it works. So if any of you out were as crazy or are as crazy as me to try this, I'll take all the info I can get from you. If you tried and failed PLEASE let me know! I don't want to commit to tearing my elky apart then finding that it'll cost a fortune to perform. Then I'm stuck with a ruined elky and no money.
Thanks, cruzzer

this is a fairly easy swap. note i did say fairly. lol. for a more complete explanation go to maliburacing.com and read the articles. even have pictures too. lol. basically it goes: stock motor mounts, room in the back for distributor is tight but enough, bigger radiator, possible interference with a/c heater box to valve covers but it is possible with stock valve covers, finding brackets for everything, tranny bolts up in stock location. hope this helps.

Hooker even makes Super Comp headers for the swap.

It's the first part of the message that concerns me.. I thought we defeated the Nazi's in 1945. What's going on that someone can arbitrarily say you can only drive so many miles if you have a so-and-so for wheels? If they start that crap here I may move to a free country!

We are given a waiver for the emission testing on any type of vehicle driven less than 5000 mi annually, also cars with classic tags [15yrs to 25 yrs and antique tags 25 yrs and older are exempt and some other collector type tags as well.I have collector insurance on mine with American Collectors Auto Insur. and only allowed 2500 mi annually.I,m ok with this because I only drive my Elky to shows and some weekend cruzzin.
