Let me start by saying i am probably one of the youngest members on this site( over 21, under 25) and have always had a passion for working on cars and machining parts. I currently own a couple s10s for fuel economy mostly but am wanting way more and i think an el camino will fit the bill nicely. So a little more about me, i am a machinist at a major suspension company, i enjoy riding quads( main reason i need something with a bed), and some of my hobbies include building model cars, car audio, and computers. The main reason i am here is to learn some more about these cars .

The plan:
Find a 68-69 camino
put a very nice suspension on it
set it up for daily driving & autocross duties, aswell as cross country trips
20mpg+

Timeline: Hoping to purchase a car in the next few months - 1 year.

Wellcome speedy hope you find a good 68 up here. they may be around wacth for rust check the frame good. a lot of shows and swap meets start in a coupe weeks around the state as far as 20mpg well good luck see most of us get bite by a bug for more power and well if we get 15 to 18 were do great or wish we could.

Thanks dillis. I am hoping to go with an engine with VVT and a 6 speed. 20mpg is the goal for highway use, especially knowing that if there's corners there's no way i am staying out of it.

Welcome! But you don't have to worry about being young, I'm only 20 and there are a lot more people on here that are younger than me. Great site to find information.

Well now i feel old!!!! I am originally from Valparaiso, but am going to school and working in southern indiana. Looks like i will be staying in southern indiana but definitely will be back up north every once in a while.
