the only problem is i guess it needs a shift linkage because the column shifter doesn't line up close to the actual gears and there's a good sized hole in the bed. thanks for any help.

The shift indicator is adjustable I would be worried more about the rust in the bed. If there is rust there I would really look it over good for more rust issues. Check the rear frame rails, back window and floors especially.

Welcome Roo, you need to hang on to that one. The 88 El Camino is somewhat of an urban legend.

The 88 El Camino is actually a 87 because GM produced too many, so they rolled them over the next year to get rid of the overstock. BTW,:nopic:

There were 200-300 87 Elkys that did not sell that year. So they just sold them as 88's.
