I have a 5th gen with a 305, ticking lifter and a clapped out 350TH tranny. I also have a '73 with a good drivetrain but the body is shot all to hell. Both have exhaust manifolds on them. Can I swap the engine/transmissions and leave the manifolds in the cars so I can use the exhaust systems that are already in the car? I'm more concerned about the bolt patterns on the heads than anything. I thought the 305's had a goofy bolt pattern on the two end ports. My 5th gen is a '78 if that makes a difference. My 86 came from the factory with a 305. When I installed a crate 350 long block from Jasper Engines, the existing exhaust manifolds fit perfectly. Bolted right up.
