SO.. Should I drive it with Cold Air Intake or flipping the Air filter lid?http://hometown.aol.com/araix2/myhomepage/dsc00587.jpg
I'm leaning towards the lid flipping because more air. :?

Also by flipping the lid, you're getting hotter underhood air instead of cold air. I would stick with the cold air.

Can you shut the hood with the lid flipped?

That CAI thing (that's such a ricer term) is part of the THERMAC. It blends cold outside air with air coming off the exhaust manifold. It's sending warm air to the carb.

The cold air won't make a big difference, but not sucking thru the restrictive THERMAC snorkel might. Try the flipped lid. The incoming air (even from the engine compartment) will be cooler than thru the THERMAC. If it gets too cold (like ~45° f), you might have an off-idle bog.

Flipped in the summer, unflipped in the winter.

A low restriction air filter (like a K&N) might help as well.

Do you have a computer controled carb or TBI ??? If so, don't flip. If it's a standard carb, go ahead and flip or use a open eliment breather.

Why can't you flip the lid on a CCC carb? :?

Thanks guys, I think the "more air" is better for a Carb.
Yes it is a 4 barrrel feedback carb, stock, and yes the hood closes.

Feel free to reply some more. :-D

Why can't you flip the lid on a CCC carb? :? I've been told it messes with the computer.

My first hand experience doesn't agree. I replaced my THERMAC air cleaner with a open element K&N and I have no problems, except for the off-idle bog when cold that I mentioned above.
