Hi,
My name is Donny Triplett
On May 14th we are having our first annual El Camino club get together. We have reserved Confederate Part in Belton. We are expecting between 50 to 80 members and their rides to show up. Some of us are talking about holding a grudge match on a burn out contest, also others are interested in doing track timing. (E.T.s)
My question is 2 part, one are you interested in becoming involved in it? Since this is our (first annual) meeting we expect to grow it each year.
We belong to and on line El Camino Club with over 18,000 members world. 250 or so just in central Texas. Here is a link to our site.
http://www.elcaminocentral.com/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=50&day=2011-5-14&c=3
The second parts is can you work out any discounts for club participants and if so or not what would your charges be?
As stated we would like to hold a burn out contest where the audience cheers for the best.
So any input or thoughts would be great.
You can respond by Email or phone after 7:00P.M. @
Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely
Donny Triplett

I'm pretty sure its exhibition."Regular ole El Camino"? Suuuurrrreeee! I see you're doing wheel stands in your "regular ole El Camino". I might get him to let me drive it. I just have to trailer it there and back since its not street legal. I drove it around last year and a cop pulled up next to me in traffic and asked if that was a parachute on the back. I said yes,im just taking it back to the shop right now. lol:nanawrench:

First here is his responce
Howdy Donnie – We got your e-mail yesterday and will be discussing how to best include a trip to Little River Dragway for your El Camino Club in the next couple of days and will get back with you asap. I bet a little side trip would be a good treat for your Club. If you look on your map, you’ll find that there’s a nice cruising road (FM 436) that goes from Belton directly into the center of the town of Little River-Academy. The track is just south of town on Hwy 95 after a long bridge over the Little River. For folks that havn’t ever been to Little River Dragway, the classic old dragstrip should be quite a treat. There’s already one of the Track’s Saturday Nite Fever programs scheduled for May 14th which should bring a nice crowd of cars for your club to enjoy the evening with...
...Expect a call from Robert “Hutch” Hutchison.
Best – Red Roberts

Now the deal
$10.00 to get in and $5.00 per run. I haven't did a drag before so I hope thats a good price?
Also Woody and my burn out contest is free, we have tp pay to get in but nothing for me to shame him!!!!!:nanawrench:
What do you think?

So how many plan on using the strip at Belton. I myself have never done a time trail before so it sounds cool to me.
The only bad thing is I usually win my races by being the craiziests not the fastest?
If you don't want to run I'll bet it will still be a blast watching the others tearing it up?

Man it would be sooo cool if we all pulled out of Belton on FM 436 headed to the strip in force.
Five bucks a pass sounds like a great deal to me, can't wait. Even for those to scared to run their baby down the track it still should be an event worth watching. I will definitely be bringing my camera and plenty of fresh batteries. I don't care if I have the slowest Elky there I wouldn't miss this for the world. My hats off to all you guys that have gotten behind this to make it happen.

Just a few racing tips DDD. Don't use the burn out box because you just end up with a lot of crap on your tires. Don't wait for the tree to turn green, leave on the last yellow, and last. Don't floor it leaving because you'll probally endup going up in smoke (i know i do) try to soft peddle it a bit comming out of the hole. Good luck and have fun!!! and remember........"If you don't break anything then your not trying hard enough".

Contacted them this morning, Here is their reply!!!!

Hey Donnie – Little River Dragway is VERY street car friendly. Usually if someone comes in with a vehicle that is legal on the street, they have no problems running with us. All the Track Rules are posted on littleriverdragway.net
...AND – If you’d send me few photos of the El Camino’s that your club has that would be representative of who’s dropping by, I’d like to include them on the track’s website along with a little greeting to the club. Also, we can make arrangements to have the burn-out contest that was mentioned before. We can do that on the track’s regular burn-out area where it would be controlled, safe as possible and insured.
Looking forward to hearing from you – Best – Red Roberts

I strongly recommend anyone going to run their Elky down the track go to the link Donny gave and read the rules. I would hate for anyone to get there and not be able to run their car down track. This is an IHRA sanctioned track so I don't think they will bend the rules just for us.

One rule I saw was no short sleeves, shorts or open toe shoes for drivers.
I'm running in the 60sec. or slower class so I'm cool. Good Times ahead boys and girls. :nanawrench:

Yes, perhaps I should bring my truck and trailer, and I bet somebody will pay my diesel back to Dallas if I haul a wounded elco warrior back.

I would absolutely love to get in a burnout burn-down with my elco bretheren. Not gonna happen THIS time. But if you want to check out some runs that I made back some 20 years ago now, go to youtube and search on cjtexoma, then look for the dragster ennis link. I went out there on to do some test runs, and they were have a small 1/8 mile event, so I went ahead and entered. Thats why you'll see me 'drop' a run when the guy in the other lane red lights (no sense beating the hardware). This is before I really got alcohol figured out, so I was barely in the '4s' at this point. Then theres some sand-dragging video of a friend of mine, which I used to do before moving to asphalt. The video is terrible, but hey, you think you're gonna do it forever when your in the middle of it. I have a bunch more VHS to convert, but can't seem to get around to it.

For my friends here who have already seen this, sorry!

I don't think they will let you do burnouts on DOT tires, so bring your slicks.
