Well, we got the Elky into the garage with a minimal amount of damage (slight dent in tail gate). Drained and remove the V6 radiator and removed the fan cowl. My son is pretty excited to finally be working on "his" Elky.

He's probably anticipating the increased power of that new V8. Do you have everything you need to do the swap?

Not sure if I'll have to pick up a different carb and distributor, but I'm fortunate enough to have both vehicles here on site. Right now we're into stripping out the V6 and cleaning up the engine compartment. On the down side, we got a good look under the car and it looks like we might need both floor panels. We'll be able to tell better when we take the seat and carpet out.

Not sure what size the V6 carb is, but I'll bet you'll have to upgrade that puppy for a V8. You will defintely have to get a new or used distributor. Around here (GA) it's nearly impossible to find a used V8 dist. I ended up picking up a remanufactured one and upgrading the coil, rotor, cap to MSD stuff and re-curving it for my 355 in the Camaro. Now, I do have a 81 computer controlled HEI V8 dist. that I'll let go for what I paid for it ($35) if it will work in your application. It will have to be rebuilt, I couldn't use it.

Your project sounds like a great time to bond with the kid, wish mine we're into cars when they were younger...have fun and enjoy the time together. :D

I'll keep that Dist in mind. We're still aways from working on the V8. Once we pull the 6 we plan on cleaning up and repainting the engine compartment. Then, once we pull the V8 out of the donor car we want to degrease and repaint it (little rough looking right now). Also needs some gaskets changed etc. Thanks again.
