eylo i have yet another question...i pulled off my 77 classic grille thinking and being told by my great grandfather(he gave elly to me) that the grille was solid flat black....well i pulled off the bowtie and hoosker doo...it was black with im guessing chrome slats...so ive triet rubbing compund, 0000 steel wool, mean green, purple power and blue magic...very little headway on this thing... at this moment its like a grey green color, reminds me of german field green from my collection... but in the sun theres a little shine under all of that crud... any tricks or helpful info on makin it shine at least close to new?

Sometimes oven cleaner will remove paint off of chrome. Just put it on and let it work keeping it wet, use a brush and hose off. It might work for you too.
