I'm talkin about a 1st class event!!!

Best run show I've ever been to!!!
It was held at the Gainsville College campus, ample parking and the auditorium and adjoining facility was ours! It rained off and on all weekend but you could go inside where comfortable seating was available. Also, when awards were given the auditorium was used complete with sound system and all!

The door prizes were great!!! Things like $50 Year one/Hinshaws/Danchuck gift certificates, craftsman tools, AC Delco creepers, NAPA 3 1/2 ton jacks, and i won an industial grade roll around utility cart!!!! 8)

The only downer for me was Ol Paint had it's first roadside breakdown!!! 8O
Distributor and/or control box failure! A helpful local took me to get a replacement distributor and I was on my way again pretty soon!

Didn't get many pics since I was late getting there and was dodging the rain a lot too. But here's what I have!

James, that is indeed a first class run show!! I wasnt able to make it this year, but I did attend my first and only time last year before - albeit without my Elky...alas, I was a mere spectator :-(

Here's Peach State Chevelle's website, with lots of pics....this link is to the photo page, but anyone interested can access the main page from here... http://peachstatechevelles.com/regional.html

The car club I am affiliated with - North Florida Chevelles - is a sponsor and usually has a contingent of 10-15 cars there. I know in the pictures of the winners, both our clubs President and Vice President are shown as winners in the 1971 Modified category Rick Burkett, and Steve Meshberger.

If you checked out the Chevelles, Rick's has a great big ole ugly plastic rat he sticks in the back window shelf to signify his 454.... 8-)

anyway, I agree ol Paint looks good too! I am hoping to have Black Beauty there next May, and I was even wishing we at ECC/NECOA could set up a regional Elky show to coincide with that Southern Regional Chevelle show. Ours would have to have all years eligible to get enough participants, but I bet if we worked with the Peach State folks we could make it happen....

I'd like to see an all elky event too, All years included. It would be hard to get a good crowd without them all since there's not enough quality early elkys. It's not going to happen as an ACES event though. A vote was held and the overwhelming majority(myself included)voting to leave ACES as is, 64-72 models only. The Elcamino club could add the other models and fill the void though. Maybe we could make a national/regional event happen.

The Peach State show is a great show. I made it down there last year.
ACES could be left as a 64-72 organization, but still recognize all years of El Caminos at its shows. That is how the Midwest Chevelle club (ACES) regional is held each year. This draws lots of entrants, as can be seen from the MidWest regional pics in our show album.
Dan Dolan and the other Peach State Chevelle club members should correspond with the Midwest officers to see how they accomplish this. I'd love to see it happen, and I'd be glad to help in the discussions.
