Does any one know of a good automotive electrician near Gainesville? I need to get all of the wiring aft of the firewall redone. I'm looking for someone with experience working on older cars because I need it done right and I can't tell my arse from my elbow when it comes to electrical issues. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Alex

What kind of problems do you have?

IT's all the original wiring and it has all the problems of being old. I've go wires under the dash that don't go to anything, wires that are frayed ....
Anytime I plug anything into the 12V I blow the fuse, my headlights and interior lights pulse with the beat of whatever tunes I'm playing (cool but not practical). I replace turn signal and flasher modules twice a year (probably typical?). I've also had to replace my fuel pump (electric in-tank) twice in the past four years and it's starting to sound like it's about to go again. Most of the connections behind the rear bumper are extremely corroded also. I feel like rewiring most of it can't hurt.

I also have an electric seat, power windows and locks. The seat looks like it was just jerry rigged in.

You have probably read the threads that always go back to the same thing to start with.
FIND, CLEAN AND TIGHTEN ALL GROUNDS!!!!
From what you are describing start with the two black wires that come off the back of the headlights and go over to the core support. Next lay down and look straight up above the e-brake pedal. There is a 10mm bolt that should have 3 or 4 black wires connected to it. Take it loose, clean all the stuff and tighten it back.

I spent a few hours with sandpaper and wirebrushes just taking apart connections and cleaning things up and that took care of most of my issues.
As far as the seat, sometimes it's better to just undo and start over.

HDElky , I called a friend of mine in Gainesville and asked if he could recommend anyone . It may take a few days to hear back from him . He is friends with a bunch of car guys there that are talented and honest . I met many of them a couple of years ago as Bill Coffey has an invite only annual garage party . What a fabulous collections of cars ranging from the fastest car from zero to 200 mph , second place in the first cannon ball run , restored classics , muscle and homebuilt rides . Several of them had won numerous awards at Gainesville Raceway drags and shows . I know you just need electrical work but thought you would like to know this .

Thanks a lot, that's some great info to keep in mind. I really appreciate the help. Since I'm going to college right now I don't have a lot of time to do what I want to do with the car and I could really use some help from some one who knows what they're doing.
