this is after i removed the ash try and a bunch of other holes, redid the speedo cluster , made a plater for the push button start and molded in autometer phantom guages.

Its a nice job, looks good. I wouldn't have the gages on the other side of the truck myself but then there is not a lot of options for that type of dash. Those gauge pods look good the way you installed them.

Wow! That looks good. Did you fabricate your own pods for the gauges or mold in gauge pods from another source (like the A pillar pods).

Good job!

Looks good but i am not into the gauge pods myself. Looks like you do quality work and bottom line is IF YOU LIKE IT!

thanks everyone! ya there isnt too many places you can put guages on these dashes. i was a little leary putting them on the opposite side in fear of not being able to see them but theres no problem seeing them at all. plus the guages a the bigger ones from autometer. each pod is made from metal, started from a piece of sheet metal and i rolled it and shaped it, then welded them in.

Here's the process. (http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/517337/3)

thanks, im gonna keep the stock speedo, i like the old big sweep gauges, with the tall number and huge needles, its something different from all of the cars that are made today, it kinda makes me feel like im in the 60's. for the tach, i have an external autometer sport-comp tach that i converted to a phantom, its just temporary until i get a 5" phantom monster tach with a shift light.

Looks great - nice job. I also prefer the sweep style speedo over the round speedo - maybe cause my first car was a 67 Chevy Caprice w/327 & Slip 'n Slide Powerglide?

I certainly admire your creativity and workmanship. If you had gone to similar guage pods for the rest of the guages and installed them in front of the driver it would have been very reminiscent of the '59/'60 Chevy. I am certainly not critical of your choice but I honestly think combining the old sweep speedo with the round guages is a little discordant.

Hey, I say custom is as custom does. Great looking dash! And thanx for posting before and after pics , for those of us who learn from ya'lls work. I really like the look. What color and what type of paint are you using on it?

thanks for your compliments and all of your input, to keep with the autometer phantom theme, i painted the ring around the speedo cluster flat black, the dash is going to be a mix of base clear viper red and flat black, there is a piece of chrome trim that says wiper, ignition, etc.. it will be flat black also and trimmed to lead into the ring of the phantom gauge closest to the driver, it will give the illusion that the trim ring was continued across the whole dash. i have also painted the heater control panel white and had an autometer style font done for all of the writing on the heater control in black. i am using the stock 17" steering wheel smoothed out and painted viper red as well as the steering column. the roll cage is painted red and i have red sparco racing seats. the headliner, door panels, kick panels, carpet, and racing harnesses will all be black.
