Im thinking about adding 3 12's in the smugglers box and 4 6x9's above that. Im adding a fiberglass tonneau cover and putting 2 or 4 15's in the bed. What do you think?:nanawrench:

I think.....ditch all that stuff, pull the radio, put a delete plate on it to cover the hole and put some loud pipes on it.:nanawrench::texas:

Good Luck. I personally think that it would sound like garbage. I had 2 10" subs, 2 6"x9"s, and 2 3 1/2" dash speakers in mine and it was a pain to tune. If I would change anything I would use 4 6"x9"s. The cab in the elky is so small that 1 10" sub would sound loud. And on the subs in the bed, someone would steal them.

But do what you want...

I have two 10" Rockford Fosgate subs and two 6.5" two-ways in the bed alone

with a locking tonneau cover.

and two three-way 6x9's inside with kenwood 3.5 in dash.

two Dual 300 watt amps.

sounds great. i have pictures. but it WILL NOT let me put them into this reply.:dontknow:

Ill put up a link when i get home.

but this idea is pretty cool. i do alot of tailgating. water leakage is a small problem. easy to fix though. and routing wire from bed to interior. (i did 1/2" hole in back center wall)

my homemade box spands back wall from side to side. cant see behind it, its attached to the tonnaeu cover to prevent rattling.

as i said. cant put pics in this thread. ill do it latr.

i have 2 Kicker L5 12'' subs mountet backwards in a 2 cubic foot box per sub box what fills the smugglers box area. its partitioned to also have a seperate enclosure for 4 infinity 6 1/2'' 4 way mids and 4 1 inch tweeters mounted on the a pillars and in the plastis near where the seatbelt retractors mount. the mids and highs are driven with a 1000 watt power akoustic 4 channel amp and the subs are pushed by a 1000 watt monoblock sony competition amp. the dual voicecoil subs are wired 1 ohm stable and it sounds amazing, its a blast to pull up to ricer cars and out stereo them with '80s rock lol

I have two 10"s in the '85 and one 10" in the '79; more than enough bass. The two 10"s are forward facing and make the CD player skip, and the one 10" is a down firing free standing enclosure that I can feel in my kidneys every time it hits.

Honestly, Its a metal car so 4 15's and 3 12's will cause ALOT of rattling. I love bass and I have 2 12's in my Camino, but instead of putting 5 speakers in your car, why not correctly port and tune a box with 2 12's? 2 12's correctly tuned can sound just as good as 4 15's in a crappy thrown together box. I've seen a single 10 in a correctly tuned box beat out a guy with 3 12's that he put into a cheap box. Its all about quality not quantity. Plus 4 15's will just piss alot of people off, true it would be very cool, but seems like an issue with people stealing it. I would hate to spend all that time just to get a ticket for disturbing the peace or some thug steals all your stuff.. I say take the time and port and tune a box for 3 12's and loose the 4 15's. BTW I'm 17 and I love overkill speakers, I'm not an old guy telling you to turn it down, but That is a little much unless your going to dynomatt every inch of your car to stop the rattling and put it to use by going to a competition.

Ive seen what youve done on cardomain I believe and I loved it.. I will be doing something similar with the amps just as youve done! Great job on the interior.

3 subs isnt a lot? I mean they are right behind your seat! I am tradining my 2 12" Rockford Fostgate P2 subs and Amp for

And I have a Kenwood Amp and Sub just will need the speakers which will cost me like 60 for 3 sets

Been doing car audio and video for years, I don't think that having subs in the bed would do you any good unless you port it through into the interior. Subs in the cab area will be better. I guarantee you that if you had a couple high quality subs and amps, it will be louder than a bunch of subs thrown in.

Example- I built a blazer with 2 JL audio 10's and a JL audio amp and it hit 149 decibals.
I also built a blazer with 12 15" lower end JL audios and precision power amps and it hit 147 decibals.

I'm going to use 2 12" in mine and a 6.5 component set for my mids and highs and that's it.

And 82Elco, very clean install, I like!!

If you get a chance to look at my post, you will see that i have 2 rockford fosgate 10" subs in the bed, and two 6.5 Two ways along next to them for mids and highs. it sounds good for all around sound that beats the tuners that think they have a sweet system.
especially sits its basically playin on the outside of the car.

:)

and now, recently, put a kicker 10" behind the driver seat in home made box to proposed specs. sounds great. so along with my two rockford 6x9's in there, brings total after market speaker total to 7! woohoo!

sounds great. dont regret a thing.

just make sure you have fun with what your doing and have a way to lock your tonneau cover. doin all that work to have it stolen would suck.

Yeah sounds like a good way to get your system stolen. Hope your living in a good neighborhood. You go out blasting your stereo around where I live, and you will have a trail of cars following you home. Trust me from a former installer, I could get into ANY car, and bypass ANY alarm within 30 secs and have your car stripped in less then 3 minutes and that was if you put in work to hide everything.
