It's definitely beautiful but $69K? I question why you would go thru a complete resto and not have the original motor or wheels. These are one of the first things that one would look at.

To me it seems like it comes with the rallye wheels and the torque trusts because there are pics with both, and for some strange reason they decided to option the LS5 under the hood to look like an LS6... Don't get me wrong, beautiful car but no LS5 auto is worth that kind of money

I think he is just trying to get all his money back paid for the parts and labor. We all know THAT never happens.

I hope he gets it. It will raise the value of my Elky!

I just found the same exact car on another website. They are asking $75,000 for it there. http://www.cars-on-line.com/51511.html. At $65,000 on ebay, the reserve isn't even met yet. From the looks in the background of this facility, they probably do restorations as a business. You never know, if a rich guy wants a perfect car right off the bat, $75,000 may not be a big deal.

My wife drove a customer to work the other day. This customer is the all around maintenance man for a rich family in the bay area. The chandelier in the foyer was $450,000. These people own a huge winery and they have Jet's and a helicopter on the property and their own mini airport. I'd rather have the car than the chandelier. But what do I know, I'm just a tranny guy:dontknow:

Hmm... I'll disagree. I was watching a rebroadcast of "Wrecks to Riches" the other day and it was the '71 Chevelle build. So, take a $3k body shell and they spent 60+k just to restore and customize it. The guy that bought it paid $82k for it. I've seen him on several of the shows -- he's bought a number of Barry Whites cars.

Now... the collector car market is all about investment value - they don't truly give a damn about the car and most never drive them. They get stored in a climate controlled garage to be looked at like a piece of artwork. Years down the road, they'll put it up for sale with the hope they'll cash in big time. That's probably the type of buyer this guy is hoping to attract.

The fact that Barry White restored the EL C no doubt raised the value of the car.

If you have been watching any of the recent Barrett Jackson or Mecum auctions it amazing how many great cars are selling for MUCH LESS than they should get. Currently, it is definitely a "buyers market".

A "sad" :frown2: commentary on the state of both the economy and the overall collector car market. :dontknow:

I saw the El Camino from My Name is Earl sell on Barret Jackson for just under $10k. I've seen plenty of nice cars, ready to go, cross the block for under $20,000. Then you see some cars go for $100k+ because it's got numbers matching :dontknow: I think sometimes given the choice I'll take the cheap car

YES!!! It seems like the only cars that sell for BIG BUCKS are those that are "already established" as "this car is going to sell for BIG bucks!!! (Certain years of Corvettes - Z28's - LS6 Chevelles - Shelby Cobras & Mustangs - European exotics, etc ....)

Of course there have been a "Few" .... very few clones or tribute cars that do go for decent $$$.

The most "shocking" (cheap) sales are on Barrett Jackson which auctions cars with "no reserve".

On a recent BJ auction I was shocked beyond belief to see an AWESOME BLACK DEUCE highboy roadster - from its beautiful black paint job topped with purplish-flames to a huge blown/all chromed-up Chevy engine it was clear to see this car had some BIG BUCKS & great craftsmanship. One would think a car like this would be able to sell for at least 50 cents on the dollar of what was invested to build this great looking hot rod. It didn't even come close..... sold for just over 20K .... OUCH!!!

Barrett Jackson has for the first time time in many years has offered "reserve" auctions for their sellers to use. Needless to say "far too many" sellers have let their "dream cars" be sold for pennys one the dollar. :dontknow:
