Ok, so this might not be an alert for something to be worried about. But it does need prayer to be revoked, because the "alert" if you will is that it might be put under the rug and forgotten.

I'm all for cleaner air, but I don't agree with the current system of checking, and nor does 50,000 other St. lousians. The biggest complaint other than the fact that the entire population of Missouri doesn't even equal the pop. of New York city, and thus can't and shouldn't be compared to any other state or city, is that its to expensive, and most people are tired of paying for the buildings and for the minium wages of young kids who don't even know how to use a manual when getting the car up to about 60 m.p.h. on the rollers.

We also have the covience of not going to the emissions stations, and all we have to do go pass the emissions truck when going on an entrance ramp. But thats flawed as well since many people get letters saying that they passed the emissions and all they have to do is pay for the sticker, even thought the car was smashed at a junk yard three years or so before.

So please pray that Missouri's Clean Air Act is revoked

Hello Justin. I'm glad you posted this for others to be informed. Here is my suggestions and two cents worth.
First, praying is great, but it might need a little more help to get this bill revoked.
I would contact your ECC/NECOA Region 12 Director for some region 12 members help. I believe his name is Michael Streets and goes by the ID of "kansascamino" at kansascamino@cox.net. You and your members can write, call, or email the state rep about this bill.
I would also join S.E.M.A. (http://www.enjoythedrive.com/content/?id=8348) You can then get alerts on all automotive bills that will effect your state and other members. It does not cost anything to join. I suggest all members of ECC/NECOA join so they can be better informed about our hobby.

Well, it's time to update on Missouri's progress toward scrapping the emission laws. At this moment in time the emission testing is staying, however, it has been reformed. As of September 1, 2004, any vehicle that was made by 1979 or older no longer need the emission testing. However, there is a small clause, I guess thats what you would call, if your vehicle is was made in between 71-79 then you did have to get it tested once, only if you are the new owner of the vehicle. Now, I wish I would have gotten that 72 elky(my favorite elky) :( rather than the 69 chevelle. :lol:

At least Missouri is getting a bit more realistic about its Clean Air Act. They have raised the oldest model year requiring the emisssioms test considerably. I don't know exactly what the beginning year now is, but somewhere in the 1990s. Out of six vehicles in our family, only one, a 2000 GMC van, requires the emissions test. Our 1988, 1981, and 1960 vehicles are now exempt. Also, regular repair shops are going to be able to do the emissions tests again instead of having to go to the state run centers.

I am not against clean air or emissions testing, but just as Missouri did when the first implemented state safety inspections, they went overboard on the emissions testing. Fortunatley they are begiining to get a little more real about the emissions testing just as they eventually did with the safety inspections.
