Showed up Sunday afternoon.
Car is in much better shape than I imagined.
Still, need new tires, battery & Alternator.
Also need to fix the horn before I get it inspected.

One owner '65
Originally equipped with HIGH PERFORMANCE 289 and 4-spd
Now with a 302 2bbl.

Runs like a champ and has a bit more spirit than I expected
This car will not be molested in any way
Nothing will be done to this car that my uncle would not approve of.
The mag wheels were put on within a week of his buying the car.

I was a bit teary eyed when it came off the transport as I remember being toted around in this very car when I was 5 years old, and it has not changed much at all.
(Tonneau cover, seats and door panels recovered years ago)

Also, as long as I can remember, this was not referred to as Jim's car.
Has always been called "Old Blue" by everyone in the extended family.
Tags and insurance was even up to date when it got here, and jim passed about 4 years ago

Bryan - I remember your original post about this car... I'm glad you finally have her.

WE all know there's no better caretaker, and what a great way to honor your grandfather's memory.

Happy Trails

Happy Trails

Not my Grand-dad, but my Uncle

But----my Uncle and Grand-dad both drove and raced their 57 Chev Fuel Injected BelAirs, much to the disappointment to my grandmother:smileyb:.

Granddad had a black one until 1965 when it was traded for a new Wildcat-----Uncle Jim had a red one til 64 when it was traded for a 64 GTO.
Hotrodding was in Uncle Jim's blood

Thanks for all the positive replies, guys:You_Rock:

Had a good full day with it before I had to go on a work trip.

Car was stored with a full tank of something that California calls gasoline, for several years.

Drove it to work on Monday morning, to get a feel of it on a commute. Bought new tires as well.
Went and got a Texas safety cert. & Green Sheet, and took it to get the oil changed.
All in all, about 100 miles of running about and all was well-----UNTIL>>>>>>

Tuesday morning, I started to take it to work and got 5 miles from the house and something plugged up the fuel line-----RAN OUTTA GAS!! Kept starting it and turned around to limp on home.
Five miles at about 15 MPH is not really fun, but in the first time in my life, I was holding up school busses:twisted:.

Got home and changed cars and went to work.
Later, in the afternoon I drained and pulled the tank to get it boiled out, and ordered a new sending unit and filler hose.

Left for Arizona and got back today---picked up tank, went home to install it
(son came home just in time to help push the car back into the driveway).

Got the tank in----3 gal. of fresh fuel, and off to the gas station.
This silly little almost micro-car HAS A 20 GALLON GAS TANK-----weird.

Seems to be running much better now and I will attempt to take it to work again in the morning.
I like this car and will get used to it very quick-----quite the little zippy truck.
(now with Texas TRUCK plates)

All of the above-----almost like a Donny day with the Pink car:poke:
