Just wanted to see if it was possible to swap in a T-56 6-speed from a 4th gen Camaro into a 2nd or 3rd gen El Camino.

Yes is the very short answer.

There is a company that sells the T56 ready to go into a Chevy. Check this link out.

I'm running a D&D Performance Viper T56 in my 69 El Camino. Works great and the install wasn't too tough.

Going into the archives to resurrect this one...

What is the story on the shifter location on the 3rd gen with T56 conversion? From what I have been able to tell the standard T56 shifter is about 6" rearward of the original MT in an El Camino. Are there options to move this like there are on the TKO 500/600s? Or do you just have to run bucket seats and a very close/short shifter?

I want an overdrive and there is a T56 out of a 99 camaro FS locally, could be cool if it would actually work...
