no matter what i do i can't get my glass clean. It's always smudged and can't see good out of it. How do you get yours clean?

You didn't say if your problem was inside or outside. For the outside, you need to give the glass a good cleaning, beyond what regular window cleaning can accomplish. A clay bar treatment, a good rub with #0000 steel wool or Bon-Ami cleanser are all ways to get it really clean. You can always polish the glass with a compound such as Meguiar's #4 cleaner. Inside glass is usually contaminated by outgassing from the vinyl surfaces in hot temps. The #0000 steel wool and a bit of solvent, such as Brake Cleaner will get you to a clean base. After that, it's just using a good window cleaner such as Stoner's or Sprayway and some microfiber cloths.

Good question in many cases a new winshield, don't laugh older ones and ones that have been sand blasted over time have the dirt embeaded and it is hard to get out. The best way to fully clean the outside is a Clay Bar the same one you used on a cars paint. I save my pieces of clay that are to dirty or full of pollun and use them on the windows and chrome of the car. Will work fine on the inside but is to messy for my car so I use if window is real bad a dish washing soap cut way done to where it does not foam first, then a product called Invisiable Glass in airasol (the straight liquid is not as good). The soap get the off gas from the plastic and first layer of dirt the cleaner cleans the glass and take the streaks out add some ARM MUSCLE and then maybe its clean, the biggest thing is don't smoke in the car.

Billy Jackl you got there first that two guys who agree , party time

Once you get the big chunks off, for everyday cleaning use Stoner's Invisible Glass. Follow the directions, don't use paper towels, just a clean towel, nothing works better....

for everyday cleaning I use a little cornstarch in warm water, till it turns whitish (if thats a word). I always manage to have streaks with anything else.

The secret to success of the cleaning process...no secret really...Whatever you wipe onto the glass for cleaning...You must put 2X the effort into wiping it all back off. It is really that simple...Not a matter of which product is used.

This is what I use ,I take the cheapest window cleaner in a squirt bottle and add about a teaspoon of Dawn dishsoap shake it up so it will mix then let it set until the suds go away.Take some old black and white newspaper because it doesn't leave any lint and clean the windshield. You may have to do it several times if it is really bad.I used to be a smoker and this is the only thing that worked for me.good luck.

Plain old rubbing alcohol is cheap and will cut through any gunk that may be on the glass.

First, you might try a half-n-half mixture of cider vinegar and water. You can put it in a spray bottle for easier application. Use newspaper to clean and scrub the vinegar mixture off the windshield.

Next...Go to the grocery store laundry aisle (or Walgreen's - I know they carry it) and get a bottle of Mrs. Wright's Bluing.

**Cover the interior of your car with towels or painters plastic because the bluing will remove the color from fabrics.

Mix about 4 or 5 squirts of bluing in some water. I do not suggest using a spray bottle for this because the spray could accidentally get on your ceiling and take the color our of your headliner. Use an old milk jug or something that pours easily but does not pour too much or spill easily.

Using paper towels or cloth diapers (cloth diapers leave no lint), clean and polish the windshield with the bluing solution. It should sparkle.

People use bluing to make crystal shine and sparkle, and to get out tough laundry stains out of whites that bleach won't get. Bluing also keeps the whites from yellowing, as repeated bleaching tends to make whites yellow or gray. It is great to use on glass - you just have to be careful not to get it on your carpet or seats.

hope this helps~

Appears bluing does not clean and does not remove color. It only adds a little blue pigment to make whites look whiter. Just going by what this link states;

http://www.buzzle.com/articles/bluing-agent-for-laundry.html

All I ever use is a damp synthetic chamois. No chemicals. No Soap.

No....bluing is not a cleaning agent. It is more like a "clearing" agent. As it says in the article, it takes the grayish tint and yellowish tint out of laundry whites that have been bleached.

On the Mrs. Stewart's bluing bottle, it lists several applications for bluing...including for glass and crystal (like crystal stemware), as well as for making a dog's hair white. And yes, it really does work on a white poodle to make its hair white! And it is non-toxic in the small amounts as recommended on the bottle.

But <shrug> whatever...... it was just a suggestion.

if you clean them often the old water in a spray bottle and paper towels does the trick. and keeping a good coat of rain-x on the outside makes that easy to wipe almost anything off. i keep rain-x and polish on the front, and even in lovebug season i just spray water and wipe off with a microfiber cloth. no soap, hose, of cleaners needed. i never even wash the car. just spray-and-wipe when needed. works really well.
