: All gm silver springs florida show oct 1 2011
skinyfisher 04-30-2011, 12:13 PM I will head up this show as in the past contact Derek Putman and see what is up and if the are any need to know changes , he has been good to us in the past.
As Lenny said October 1 2011 at Silver Spring State Park Ocala and hosted by NPD with the first 500 registered cars getting in for free along with the 2 tickets to the park. Living close for a few or far for many has nothing to do with this show it is worht the trip. For those needing rooms there are many places near the park or near the interestate, I suggest making your room reso's in advance. I have attended this show every year sense it began and for those that have not been to the park and are car guys it will be worth the trip and is a double hearder of fun in one day. To help those that wish a two day trip NPD has the cruise in to Cedar Key on Friday and a viewing of the there 100 car collection at the store (free). Near by is the famous Don Garlits drag racer museum and more also worth the time and small cost to enter.
As we did last year we will meet up at the Days Inn parking lot at 7:30 am and head over to the show one block up the street. Drive right into the registration line and than drive another 100 yard or so to the club staging area when we are grouped up will head in and try for the same area as 2010. For the cars coming in after the 7:30 we will save spaces for those that check in as coming the prior week before the show.
Lets see some of the Northern Florida members make the trip this year.
For those coming just so so and I will statr a list down the road .
welder5 04-30-2011, 06:04 PM Gonna see about goin to this one. Do we need the tents?

skeetfreak 04-30-2011, 09:07 PM SKINYFISHER (Jay) I MIGHT MISS this one in October. The 67 Elky is going down in the next several MONTHS for an EXTENDED REHAB. New Frontend(SS hood, fenders, and all new frontend chrome). Also the Elky is getting a lot more exterior CHROME.(Not anything like YOURS) plus a new complete PAINT JOB. I dont't think she(it) will be ready. Will MISS IT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 3 YEARS.:sad2:

BigStinky79 05-18-2011, 03:10 PM Skinyfisher...I thinking about coming to this show. I just bought a 79 Elco that is in fair shape but nothing great yet.
Having never had a car in a show I'm not sure if a middle of the road Elco would be wanted at this type of event.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks
Carretera 05-18-2011, 04:23 PM Where's mine? :dontknow:

IF ITS RUNNING YOUR COMING, WE WELCOME ALL Elky years, finished, unfinished, daily driver, high/ low, show or trailer queen?:poke:. So register and be there this is more a big cruise in than a formal show, there are a few particpant judged awards and NPD awards. Mostly a fun day if you have not been to the park it is worth the trip and bring the other half or a friend. Do not be concerned about this being a show show for all for our group its about checking out the cars and meeting as a group.
Tony someone must have heard you don't have the correct car anymore and took away your priviledges, so you have to wait a day or so.:dontknow::poke::beer::nanawrench:

Carretera 05-18-2011, 06:50 PM Where's mine? :dontknow:
When I got home today I saw the envelope form NPD and I thought they must have found out I'm looking for parts for the '55 so I didn't open it, now I walked into the kitchen and my wife had left it on the counter, yes I did get the registration, and yes Skiny I did thing I was being excluded, remember I'm still a 'over the hill gang elky owner at heart". Be at Silver Springs with a running/non running elky or '55 chevy or bust!

The early list shows 13 and that is light several
rtatwk 05-26-2011, 11:58 AM With a little extra time on my hands today, I am now booked at the Days Inn too. Friday and Saturday nights. All I can say is get ready for this big Region 6 meet! Those who need, or might need, to earn a kitchen pass or brownie points to let loose for a night get started! Gees, I might even know where the Hooter's is up there! I used to go to classes at the State Fire College nearby. Was that one exit South, or one exit North on I75? Oh well...There is still time to figure such details and Skiny has claimed the lead...The big dinner plans are on him! LOL
skinyfisher 05-26-2011, 12:16 PM This one easy, every year the group has gone to Friday night dinner at Outback on SR40 a few miles before you get to the park or hotel on the north side of street very visable. I will get us on the call ahead list for 6PM when we get a head count.
Chris Nelson 06-03-2011, 07:46 AM Just got my confirmation card # 0463 out 500 ! Only 37 left ,feel like I won Lotto !

Awesome....can't wait to go! Looking forward to meeting many of you.:poke:
69 SS396 06-05-2011, 04:52 AM Skinny,
Looks like you are doing a GREAT job organizing this. THANKS
A couple of Qs though:
For the Friday cruise, what time and where do we meet?
You mentioned in an earlier post that we might get to park together in the show, will this be done oldest to newest (or newest to oldest) or is that taking it a little to far?
rtatwk 06-05-2011, 06:11 AM I think the long range plan is to meet early at the nearby Days Inn parking lot and drive in together to accomplish that. No particular order except that 'El Chromeo' will probably lead the convoy. There will be swapping of phone #s and working past the other things like.. who is going where for breakfast and stuff first in the last week or so. Other variables include who will be there Friday and who all will be driving in on Saturday morning.
Anything to add to that Jay?
skinyfisher 06-05-2011, 08:56 AM Yes I will layout the firm times and meet up location the week before the show, that way us olders guys may not forget. It should be no change to what I have posted already or last year.
There is no order of parking by year, YES we will park as a group this should be no problem for the early 7:30 group as there is a club meeting area set up as you clear registration we wait a short amount of time and go into the show field together and head for a favorite area with shade, its has worked well everytime so far. We than spread out and save spots for those coming in a a later time as needed. This is a well run show and has been very easy and quick, the early meet just gets the better spots with more trees and dry ground if it has rained that can be important, but the more that come in early the better.
The Friday guys meet for dinner if they wish, I have posted that but will do all again as the time shortens.
Looks like a nice group 9 have confirmed free entry I am fairly sure there are 5 more are in that group and several the have said they are coming even if they don't make the free cut off. The list is based on both and equals 18 totoal as of now will revise in Sept. I hope we get to the 20 mark everyone plan it and may all be able to hold the plan.
airbrushing 06-05-2011, 10:19 AM I am driving in on Saturday Morning. I could never leave my car in any parking lot over night. I have many friends who done so only to come out to a stolen or trashed vehicle...even under security cameras.:secret:
rtatwk 06-05-2011, 06:42 PM Too bad Lenny won't be there Bill. You could learn his multi step procedure for securing your cruck in any location. I won't try to explain it. You would just have to watch.
skinyfisher 06-05-2011, 08:11 PM Very good Randy, I have only one of the three way protection group that Lenny has, plus a cover both just keep the idiots from going for it the pro's get what there after. Also there is the fact that are Crucks are real low on the poll and even more when your parked in a lot of 40 other nice cars. Never been touched in 22 years but I do agree with Bill that things come up missing. We probably all know someone that has been hit I had several stolen when I was a lot younger and played in the high performance cars they are a magnet for being ripped apart or ripped off.
69 SS396 06-06-2011, 03:47 AM We could take turns, neighborhood watch kinda thing.
I would suggest private security but those guys hire the homeless, kinda like TSA at the airports.
Lenny Carey 06-06-2011, 06:57 AM Hey , I could hear you guys laughing at me from all the way down here in the Fl. Keys ! You`re right , I do believe in securing my Camino the best I can , even going a little overboard but it helps me sleep better . Bill is right and we should think about what we can do to protect them as our older Caminos are not the hardest car to steal . Locks , alarms or whatever you can do . Staying at a decent place that has security , ask for a room where you can look out and see your car , block them in together when possible and check on them during the night . I figure it is cheap insurance to protect my ride and may save me a long prison sentence if I ever found the thief . If a problem does arise at least you can say you did the best you could and hopefully you will minimize any loss . In the meantime keep getting your ride ready for Silver Springs .
skinyfisher 06-06-2011, 10:49 AM :poke: us :poke:about you and the Conch Mobile can't be Randy or I :dontknow:. Besides I have joined in and started my small henderences to any thief. The only thing that matters is electrafied fence that I put up around the car, top that one Lenny
Good thing I didn't try to go on PT would never have made it, PM you later
airbrushing 06-06-2011, 02:36 PM HEheheeeee Well. I could always sleep on a blow up mattress in the back of the elky with my 9MM Glock which is on me at all times! That would be secure.

wasabe 06-18-2011, 07:12 PM Some Questions.....I am new here so forgive me if they are answered somewhere else and I missed it....
1) I sent in my show app about a month ago, when do they let us know if we are in?
2) Is there a home base hotel to get reservations at.
I am planning on attending the Cedar Key drive on Friday and the show on Saturday. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

(1) I sent my 2 at different day & week & I got each a week later
skinyfisher 06-18-2011, 09:03 PM Wasabe read back there is hotel info and numbers in previous pages of this thread. I also believe that all the first 500 free registration cards have been sent back a couple of weeks ago, so if you sent your registration in and did not make the first 500 you should still receive a number, than you pay the morning of the show $21.00. Here is the NPD link go to GM show left side of page towards the bottom all the info is there http://shop.autocraftinvestments.com/index.php?p=home. If you have any problem email Derek Putman and inquire about your registration if it appears to have been lost ?.
rtatwk 06-19-2011, 07:09 AM Yes there have been a couple of members to post here, who had their numbers that were above 500. So do check on that.
The Days Inn near the entrance seems to be the common choice for lodging and will be the morning meeting place to convoy into the show area I believe.
Villain281H 06-19-2011, 08:23 AM If you don't receive a confirmation cars within 10 business days after you sent your registration to us, please shoot me a PM here or e-mail me at dputnam@npdlink.com and I'll check the database to confirm we received your registration (some confirmation cards get lost/destroyed by the post office, but we send one for EVERY registration we receive).
Derek
skinyfisher 06-19-2011, 09:32 AM Thanks Derek for confirming what I thought, as to the procedure to check on registrtion cards "things happen with the mail" after all this is FLorida.
So check up on your registration guys that have a big gap in time so you don't show up with no info.
Carretera 06-19-2011, 10:25 AM Got mine quickly, shining up the car and rearing to go!
skinyfisher 06-19-2011, 11:29 AM CAR :poke::dontknow::shocked2:
Lenny Carey 06-20-2011, 07:57 AM I agree Skiny . Has anyone else seen this mysterious 55 Chevy that Tony bought ? I think that Tony has thrown in with 82 Elco and may be now working for these guys :secret: ! Although it is a ways off , I may finally be able to make this show . My wife`s vacation dates have changed just enough that I might be able to get away for the day and fly up for the show ( without my Camino ) , then leave in the afternoon . Time will tell . Glad to see that so many are planning on attending this show . Wasabe asked about the cruise . The only one I know that has done it is Blue81 . Maybe Steve will let us know about it . There is info on their website and it sounds like a good cruise through horse country and back roads to offshore Cedar Key then see the National Parts Depot`s collection of cars . If I can make it , I will schedule a class on how many locks you can put on an Elky starting at 5 a.m. on the parade grounds assisted by Randy and Jay .
skinyfisher 06-20-2011, 09:40 AM No that is an incorrect time, the leason is Friday at 6PM at OutBack, and the only teacher in this group is "LENNY" class time is all the time before being seated for diner and that I hope is 6:01 PM if you guys are lucky.:poke:
If it is a 5am leason send me the CD and start without me :dontknow:
Chris Nelson 06-20-2011, 09:46 AM Put us down for the Outback Dinner. That's Fri. the 30 of Sept. at 6 pm,right? we are booked for day's inn for fri. also.
rtatwk 06-20-2011, 11:21 AM I'm in for 'Happy Hour', dinner, and any afterparty back at the motel...by the pool...or maybe in the lot with the armed gaurds. We'll have to refrain them from shooting all 55 Chevy's and keep Jay from offering a bounty on Nomad wagons. :poke:
Lenny...Glad to hear you might make it. Even without the Conch Cruiser! I'll assist in any way I can with the lock down demo.
Let me add a big Kudos here for Derek! Besides all he does for anyone through NPD, and for this show...He has been giving me an assist in helping out one of my local car club members with his drag racing knowledge.
skinyfisher 06-28-2011, 08:34 AM Randy I am just going to buy up the Nomad's and give them to my friends to haul trash on windy days.
Remember guys if your going to the GM show and did not make the 500. REGISTER ANYWAY AND YOU PAY ON ARRIVAL WITH NO HASSEL AT ALL $21.00 for car, driver & one passenger additional tickets available read registration form.

Chris Nelson 06-29-2011, 11:06 AM I'll take the first watch in the parking lot & I'll be the designated guard w/ my mini 14 .223.OK? but I must be in bed by 9pm.
skinyfisher 07-04-2011, 09:01 AM Just for the need to bump along the thread without posting names and going by the positive comments we seam to have 19 Elky's and probably more I hope.
If you have not listed your Registration number or confirmed let us know if your coming.
MC87SS 07-04-2011, 09:15 AM Sorry to say i will not be able to make it this year although i did get my Elky running again this morning.
As most of you know i do an annual BBQ for the SMCC and after many weeks of juggling dates the only one we could do was Oct 1st. As always you guys are invited however i know this show is a great time so why would any of you miss that for a BBQ. LOL
Since it appears we have a rep from NPD here i may need to talk to Derek about having the SMCC join the show next year, maybe we can even park next to you guys.
Villain281H 07-05-2011, 06:29 AM Since there appears to be a bunch of you coming, we can do group parking in a couple of ways.
1 - You can all arrive together (or choose a designated time) and gather in our "club gathering area" just past the registration/packet pick-up area. Then once all are assembled, re-join the line inside the park and let a parking attendant know about your group and how many you have.
2 - If someone can provide me a list of "confirmed" show names, confirmation numbers and rides, we can designate an area for you. This will allow for an area for the names on the list only, and we can't guarantee spots in that area for day of show registrations.
Derek
Villain281H 07-05-2011, 06:30 AM MC87SS, we can park a group together as mentioned above for you. Just let me know...
Derek
skinyfisher 07-05-2011, 07:05 AM Derek thanks for the come back I (Jay) have the lead on this show and yes it looks like a good group of 20 or more. Many of us stay accross the street, leave together at 7:30am drive through registration and re-group at the club meet lot and then drive in and park off the first right turn in under the trees, at least we have got there first the last two years. This area is near to where you put the group of SSR's last year but under the trees. We just count up our late arrivals and leave space, we will have a head count the prior week.
What do you think is best for both of us, block off and reserve or we just come in and set up.
Thanks in advance your alsway right on it.
NECOA Group
Villain281H 07-05-2011, 11:18 AM We can do it either way. Just keep me posted on the tally, and if it gets up there beyond 25-30, a pre-determined parking spot might be easier for us to designate beforehand.
Derek
pongo 07-05-2011, 12:40 PM Well ya'll have talked me into it. I am making plans on going to this show. So as of now count me in, that is if you don't mind a region 7 fellow tagging along. Hope to see alot great cars there.
rtatwk 07-05-2011, 02:12 PM Welcome Pongo! Go ahead and print off your registration form from the NPDlink site and get it in for a #. Free ones are all taken but it is still a great deal. Payment is taken care of on show date. Post to this thread with updates on your arrival time and such so Jay can add you to the tally for getting the parking details ironed out on the showgrounds. Be sure to confirm if you will arrive the day before and you can join in on the group activities Friday too.
You might want to bring along a pair of tall boots. The BS can flow deep among this bunch...
pongo 07-05-2011, 02:48 PM I am planning to arrive a couple of days early as I have family in the area to visit.
And I always keep a pair of tall boots handy, all the time, when I go to car events. I always seem to need them for some reason, when you get a bunch of car nuts togather.
skinyfisher 07-05-2011, 03:03 PM OK, PONGO you can only come if bring say 10 more with you for a contest of which Region builds the best ELKY in an 8 hour car show :poke: We have a secret weapon 464ELKY.
On the serious side your down I would assume your coming in on Friday, try and stay at the Days INN Silver Springs scan back through the posts and you can find all the info about everything said so far. Like Randy said get on NPD site print the registration form and send in, that way they will have all your info and goody bag ready and it will be $21.00 that morning. The Friday activity at this time is only a dinner at OUTBACK if you wish to join, there is a cruise on Friday of about 120mile round trip from NPD warehouse to Cedar Key on the Gulf and the back with a tour of the NPD car collection. All of this will be restated the week before the show.
FL Kymino 07-06-2011, 03:07 PM Just saw there were 99 posts, so thought I'd make it 100
blue81elcamino 07-06-2011, 11:12 PM The Cedar key cruise is awesome i did it last year, you meet at NPD in Ocala there huge car collection is open for viewing. Then everyone heads off for cedar key going down great back roads. When you get to cedar key everyone parks together hangs out for a bit, then everyone heads to the restaurants for lunch. It was a great adventure and i will hopefully do it again this year!!

pongo 07-07-2011, 06:10 AM r I am at POCI (pontiac-okland club) yearly convention this week in Bowling Green KY. I will get reg. and make motel resv. as sson as I get back. Then I will make the official post that I am ready to go. By the way, where is the list of all that are coming?
P.S. these Pontiac guys, and ladies know how to support their club. Every year they make the pilgramage to where ever it is. I have seen cars from just about every state here There is even a guy that has on display a copy of the truck, trans am, and Buford T. Justus' cop car here. It is great to see it. He even has a cop suit like Buford wore.

rtatwk 07-07-2011, 08:54 AM You have my info correct except I won't know for some time whether Yuyi will be along with me or not. If she does not come, I can offer room space to another member....as long as they bring more . Don't forget that Lenny may now attend...Minus the Conch Cruiser!
More that 1/3 of the way towards the numbers at Belton! Factoring in a difference of the square mileage of the 2 regions....We may have some sort of record turn out here...lol
skinyfisher 07-07-2011, 09:14 AM No problem I sorta figured that, I will figure a yes to cover things.
Lenny is an inactive figurehead at this event he can't seem to get his priorities correct on importance of vaction and peace at home or the October meet :poke:. So until he can be sure of his loyalties we can only hope of his Royal Directors attendence in full dress will happen:poke:.
rtatwk 07-07-2011, 10:27 AM OK I gotta jump in quick in Lenny's defence here...He cannot be called inactive or anything resembling that! He is the one who would jump in the 'Conch Cruiser' and attend any meet any where anytime possible! We don't have anyone who is more of a 'team player' than him! To the rest of us...Only your wife gets to call 'El Chromeo' your mistress. Family does come first!
Ok I know you are just poking fun here...Just don't want those less familiar with us to misinterpret anything as a real 'dis' to our Regional Director. Now if you want to direct anything towards that 82Elco ghost...Be my guest...lol
skinyfisher 07-07-2011, 10:40 AM Inactive have not heard from him in the last hour missing and determined lost in Key West area. Carfull he has an accompless RTATWK who is never missing and always make trouble unlike ME :poke:.
For all out there that may think some of us are bored and old you maybe right, we will not hold it against you. Read between the lines this just good old fun and poking and ribbing of several. Today is Lenny day.
82 WHO or is that 82 whoo whoo like in choo choo or just plain imaginary.:poke:
Villain281H 07-07-2011, 12:01 PM The Cedar key cruise is awesome i did it last year, you meet at NPD in Ocala there huge car collection is open for viewing. Then everyone heads off for cedar key going down great back roads. When you get to cedar key everyone parks together hangs out for a bit, then everyone heads to the restaurants for lunch. It was a great adventure and i will hopefully do it again this year!!
The cruise is a great way to spend your Friday (or so I've been told by hundreds of people that have done it during this show as well as our Ford show in January). We've had close to 170 cars and trucks do the January Ford & Mustang one, but that one was originally created by a former magazine editor, so it had some more pull!! :smileyb: I have yet to go since I have so much stuff to do on Friday for the show, but my boss and the Vice-Pres of NPD Rick Schmidt usually leads the cruise to Cedar Key. In case you might think the upper guys at NPD aren't car guys, myself and Rick will quickly erase that idea! I will have my Nova at the show on Saturday though.. :sneaky:
Derek
rtatwk 07-07-2011, 02:05 PM Derek there can be no denying that you and the whole NPD bunch are great hosts, along with Silver Springs, for the events you put on there! The praise of those who have attended before is why I won't miss this year! Maybe next time I will come sooner for the Friday cruise too. This time I will settle for the impromptu happy hour and Outback dinner with my old, and soon to be new, El Camino friends on Friday afternoon and evening. I'll extend the invitation to join us to you too...Along with my personal thanks (again) for your assistance and advice regarding the Chevelle drag car belonging to one my local car club members.
Yes all...I :secret: here often and defend the righteous as well as poke some fun, pass on any little knowlege I have, or just read and learn.
 to all! Region 6 :You_Rock:
Oh and Jay! Don't forget that Chuck and I have dibs on any produce wagons when you aquire all Nomads and the like. If you do I swear I'll get a lawn tractor that will seriously take you down in the next voted on picture contest! :poke::poke::poke::poke::poke:
skinyfisher 07-07-2011, 02:29 PM Hold onto that thought on the Nomads, I have applied for that small busniess stimulass (free) loan but I did not get the last two so there must be a snag at the Capital Building or is the the Big White Dome in the Sky. skinyfisher 07-08-2011, 08:11 PM Thanks Derek now I wont bother you at work, don't worry will cover it up.

skinyfisher 07-09-2011, 08:26 AM NO, it just means we get the give him a little hassel until he see's his error and comes back to the good side of the universe. But it would be fun to make the 55 in to an El Camino but than it would be a copy and Tony is a real guy:beer:
Villain281H 07-09-2011, 09:47 AM Reviewing the registration flyer for a clause on "not working on vehicles while in the show"......
pongo 07-13-2011, 09:47 AM Well I have my motel Res. at the days inn, I have sent in my Reg. form to NDP, all I need is for some more El Camino owners to drive down from Tennessee with me. I have put a post out in the Region 7 forum asking them to step up and make a showing, hope it works. But anyway I am set to go, and sign me up for what ever is going on, the friday night dinner, the cruise, the after hours get togather, what ever it is. One more question is there reserved, armed guard parking, for the person that drives the longest distance to get there?
rtatwk 07-13-2011, 04:10 PM The guarded parking is the same for all and seems to be an added bonus to this meet. No updated time has been set on Lenny's theft proofing demo.

pongo 07-20-2011, 09:45 PM You know I was going back through the history of my El Camino, and the farthest from home any one can think of it being is 153 miles from Tullahoma. pongo 07-21-2011, 08:04 AM for me it will be 2 for dinner, it does not seem like the cruise to Ceder key is that popular, what gives?
skinyfisher 07-21-2011, 09:21 AM Pongo , many of the guys have been coming to this annual event for years and have done it and many can not get there On Thursday for the Friday AM Cruise. They usually average about 60 cars that make the cruise. Got you done fo 2 for dinner, it helps as Outback has a call ahead list that speeds things up.
kstmbowtie 07-21-2011, 09:44 AM hey guys. i cant confirm dinner or the cedar key cruse until it gets closer. not sure how shes going to be runing. shes still got a lot of kinks to work out. but i will make the show if i have to pull it down there with with by buddys truck.
Villain281H 07-21-2011, 11:13 AM A few notes as we get closer to the show:
The Friday cruise is not mandatory, nor do you have to pre-register or let us know you plan to attend. As mentioned, this cruise isn't quite up to the participation level of our Ford & Mustang one in January, but the Ford show is also a Saturday-Sunday weekend show, so I think most people were taking Friday off to get a jump on it and that likely led to the creation of the cruise. We didn't do a cruise for the first 2 years of the GM show, as we thought I one day show wouldn't have the popularity of demanding it. But people asked for it, so we started doing it.

Villain281H 07-22-2011, 01:42 PM Yeah, I said it! I mentioned the blue oval. After all, what would good competition be without a winner and a loser (and we know who plays the loser)

Oh, you decided to really poke that wasp nest?
Based on registration count, Silver Springs figures the # of free entries. The Ford show usually gets 1500-1700 pre-registrations versus the GM show's 910 high count thus far in 5 years. Remember, Silver Springs needs to stay in business somehow, and they've hosted a Corvette-only show where each and every entry pays to get in. So we're still getting a heck of a deal (even if you do become one of those car nuts that has to fork up the $21 to enjoy not only the show but everything the park offers), and I'm sure if the registration count increases for the GM show to a certain level, we can re-approach Silver Springs about bumping up the possible free count!

The show is growing for NPD and we are adding more members as time goes along, my count and conformations are at 25 if all make it approx 12 for dinner. The Outback on Friday will be re-asked again 2 weeks before the show to make sure so the call ahead reso will be a for sure amount.

464elky 08-19-2011, 07:30 AM Mine will be 2 for dinner. My Mopar buddy Ben is coming with me again. He just can't get enough abuse I guess.
rtatwk 08-19-2011, 12:03 PM No problemo Neil...Ben can sit next to me because I like Mopars too! The older ones anyway. Glad to see the 'Mayor' and Mignon will be there now too! Looks like it will be quite a convoy coming up from the South. I'll have to try to get over to the pike at the right time to join in on Friday.
I guess you can bring Ronnie's rum smelling cooler along too this time. I'm in too much of a rush to and from Miami to be able to stop by with the reconstruction still going on here at the house. The trips have been few and hurried.
skinyfisher 08-19-2011, 02:47 PM Gota make trouble out of this, Randy and the Mopar group can have a "PRIVATE BOOTH"
rtatwk 08-20-2011, 09:30 AM No problemo again...I have the armed gaurds on my side :poke:. But they really only shoot f**d guys on sight.
Looks like we may need the banquet room at the Outback anyway...And there is still time for more to join in!
skinyfisher 08-20-2011, 10:30 AM As of now we have 25 ELky's and 14 for dinner!!!!!! if all falls as planned:nanawrench:
Carretera 08-21-2011, 09:26 AM Today I checked with a sign maker and he can do one to cover the '55 to look like a El Camino.
Counting the days and looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new members.
As of now we'll be three my two nephews and myself and we should be on time for dinner at Outback.
Hopefully I'll be able to park near you guys, Tony the Outcast.
hotcamino 08-21-2011, 03:16 PM Dosen't a 55 hold a lot more than 3?
It has a REAR SEATING AREA unlike our El Caminos, I guess you haven't noticed.:poke:
skinyfisher 08-21-2011, 06:48 PM Add another BIGSTINKY79 will be there for Saturday with the early group.
That make 26 Elky's and now up the 17 for dinner, I will call for some sort of seating arrangements or we will just split up into two groups and do two call ahead reso's.
Carretera 08-21-2011, 07:07 PM Dosen't a 55 hold a lot more than 3?
It has a REAR SEATING AREA unlike our El Caminos, I guess you haven't noticed.:poke:
It really holds 6 but the inline 6 can only propel 3 at a time, the 3 on the tree doesn't help a lot. But then again it's only a numbers game for a '55.
jlcustomz 08-21-2011, 10:16 PM I'll definitely try to go ,but won't know for sure till week of. Also, late sept to mid nov is my main tear apart & work on stuff time.:bomb:
hotcamino 08-22-2011, 04:18 AM Inline 6???????????
There is enough room under the hood to put another one along side it...Just think Tony...you could have a V-12!!!!!!!!!!!!:nanawrench: Not too many V-12's at an all GM Show.
Villain281H 08-25-2011, 09:54 AM I felt like a bump for Thursday, so.....
sempercamino 08-25-2011, 11:04 AM Good to hear the "Mayor" is coming, now we get to drink the Good stuff.Sounds like a good group.
Lenny Carey 08-26-2011, 09:04 AM Good to see that the " Mayor of Singer Island " , and Mignon are coming . This is turning out to be a great El Camino gathering and I`m especially happy to see members from the more northern parts of Florida joining in the fun . Glad that a number of you are bringing your wives and main squeezes to the show . Wish I could bring my Camino but I`m really looking forward to seeing the cars , park and riding the glass bottomed boats . Also looking forward to seeing Carretera`s new 55 Chevy . C.J. have you found a " Gaylord " , bed cover yet ? This month`s issue of Super Chevy Magazine has a nice full page ad for the show and glad to hear from Derek that the entry count is so high . Let`s keep " beating the bushes " , and keep adding more rides !
sempercamino 08-26-2011, 10:42 AM Lenny, the cover is on and painted. We're loving it.Lenny be sure and count Ronnie from J & J,he said he'll be there Sat.morning.
cj:beer:
Villain281H 08-26-2011, 02:03 PM Keep them coming; only 5 weeks until show time!
Derek
EdontheBeach 08-27-2011, 05:11 PM fellas - i can't get that friday off; see you saturday morning
Lenny Carey 08-28-2011, 07:47 AM C.J. Glad to hear you got your bed cover and I will check it out at the show . Thanks for the heads up that Ronnie from J & J is coming . I`m sure Skiny will see it . I did not know till very recently I could make it at all . The date always comes at a bad time for me to get up there . I will fly up Sat. morning for the show but no time to be able to get my 87 Camino there . Fortunately , Deputy Director Skinyfisher , has lead our efforts this and past years on this show . I`m excited to finally see one and all the rides that are lining up ! Those that can make it remember that Fri. has a view of National Parts Depot`s great car collection and cruise to offshore Cedar Key on the Gulf side of Florida . I put up a forum at www.mandmspeed.com about the show .
airbrushing 08-28-2011, 08:32 AM Hey CJ.... I am heading up Sat Morning. probably pulling out of here about 5am. Do you want to meet on 75 and 56 and drive up together? You got my phone number.:poke:
pongo 08-28-2011, 08:43 AM How many El Caminos so far? and how many cars all togather?
FL Kymino 08-28-2011, 10:22 AM Last I heard 25+ Elkys and over 800 for show:beer:
skinyfisher 08-28-2011, 07:38 PM Pong Looks like 27 at this time with a few on the fence and 17 for Friday dinner.
Just got hotcamino's reg # and it is 825 so this could be the best year or equal to last.
sempercamino 08-31-2011, 09:26 AM We have a room for Fri.and plan on putting away some very good Berringers with the "Mayor"and his lovely wife Mignon.
Ed on the beach is leaving Sat.morning and Ronnie from J & J is trailering his up Sat.If you want Ronnies number P.M.me.We'll be saving spaces for those coming on Sat.Drive safe, and we'll see you up there.cj:beer:
Villain281H 09-01-2011, 09:21 AM One month to go, we already have 850+ entries and room for more. Remember you can either pre-register (by September 26th) or the day of show for the same $21 price (includes entry for the vehicle and 2 people into the park). Don't forget the NPD car collection will be open for viewing Friday from 8-5, and we have the cruise to Cedar Key leaving Friday morning from NPD's Ocala location. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
Derek
rtatwk 09-01-2011, 10:04 AM BTW Skiny...You can add El Dawgg as another on the fence. Sterlingsilver and myself have the :poke: going at him to join us. Remind me again about what you reccomended for the rear of the 72...And maybe front sway bar...Perhaps I can get those ordered and pick up when I am there.
skinyfisher 09-01-2011, 04:35 PM The rear end gears will depend on the transmission Th400, 700R4, 4 speed manual etc. Do you want to get gone from a stop, have best for both low/high, freeway flyers it depends on how you want to drive and have the car set up for you. As to who will do your set up and install that would be Neil and he will also give you good info on the gears. You will land somewhere between 3.23 and 3.73 I think? The sway bars are a for sure it will make a great deal of difference in the car to have them and you can go from stock to beefy, once again depends on motor and how you want the car to feel, I would go a step up from stock with someones bars. You need to know what everything is going to be engine, HP, trans, rear gears than pick your suspension add ons.
Is el Dawg a for sure???
Lenny Carey 09-02-2011, 07:22 AM Randy , Glad that you are contacting the El Dawgg for the NPD Show . I called his phone but did not get past a recorded message . Was ready to send out a BOLO on him . Looking forward to seeing Sterlingsilver also . Are you trailering the 72 home or driving it . I know Jason is doing work on your other ride and is he doing work on the 72 ?
rtatwk 09-02-2011, 07:56 AM The 72 will be trailered here. I have all but the car and engine. Have my truck back with new engine too. I don't have the Dawggs # but he has mine. Sterlingsilver has been stuck playing middle man for all info exchanges.
Jay I was speaking of some kind of rear strut or sway bar that you mentioned would make a difference. And I will change the rear gear too. Don't think I will stick with the one in it...Will figure that out when I decide about using the TH350 or getting a 700R4.
464elky 09-06-2011, 05:19 PM Ben and I have decided to go up on Thursday and do the Cedar Key run on Friday. The Excalibur that I did the restore on is coming too. Remember it has a vette drive train from the factory.
FL Kymino 09-06-2011, 07:26 PM I'm heading up on Thurs too. Been on the fence about the cruise. I'll call you if I decide to go.
Lenny Carey 09-08-2011, 07:28 PM Great to hear Ben and his very unique Excaliber are coming to the show . I was disappointed when several of us met up at Neil`s , I did not get to ride in it . If you haven`t seen it and the great work Neil did to it , you are missing a treat . Check it out in Silver Springs . Can someone put a link to the forum that has the photos and info on it ?
464elky 09-09-2011, 04:01 AM Here is the link to the thread on the Excalibur.
http://www.elcaminocentral.com/showthread.php?t=30716
By the way Ben doesn't own the Excalibur. He owns a 73 Charger. Aka a Mopar guy.
rtatwk 09-10-2011, 06:10 PM I guess the Dawgg is further from a maybe now. He is held up with a leg injury (not a break). Haven't seen a post from you (Jay) lately...Hope all is well with you and your transmission. Three weeks to go!
:beer::beer::beer:
skinyfisher 09-10-2011, 07:57 PM Randy I am checking in but not doing or saying much right now. Got the trans back Friday and will be in this week if all goes will. Soon I will be starting the re check for the Gm show and seeing what Derek has decided on as to the parking.

pongo 09-15-2011, 11:24 AM Just re-checking in from Tennessee, we will be there, 2 for supper friday night, the cruise a maybe at this time. Looking forward to it, I just hope the weather is good.
Carretera 09-15-2011, 11:29 AM We'll be 4!
rtatwk 09-15-2011, 12:56 PM Of course I will be there Friday and for dinner. Still an unknown on the number for that.
Have to get a final on whether Yuyi will come along (she keeps forgetting that I have been talking about this trip for months) and there is a possibility that Ronnie may come up and bring his 38 Chevy. He is kind of busy with a new home purchase and a move up close to Neil...along with where to have his 50, just purchased, delivered to...So I will be 1,2,3, or 4 for Friday dinner. I will give a final number soon!

PunkRican 09-15-2011, 11:01 PM sorry if I'm a bit slow, grad school's kept me busy. planning on being there for the show day
kstmbowtie 09-16-2011, 03:42 AM had a lil hiccup. the rear end went out on me last week, but i found one at the salvage yard and got it going last night. so i will be there for the show on sat.

Not sure if I will have 1 or 2 for dinner.
What time does the Cruise gather and leave for Cedar Keys
464elky 09-16-2011, 07:38 AM Starts gathering about 8 AM on Friday morning and pulls out about 9:30. Gathers at the NPD warehouse.
Cyclone 09-16-2011, 07:07 PM Would love to come but I'll be working that day, wish it was a sunday...

doug kendell 09-17-2011, 01:15 PM the show will go on, but im regretful to likely have to miss out yet again. life, work, financial things may knock me out. at least with the car. its mostly the financial end. we do have annual passes so in essence it will cost us more to take the camino. but we maybe able to go show up enjoy the day and hang out, just without the wheels. at least somethings better than nothing, so hopefully we'll be able to go and have a little fun. take care all and maybe see ya soon!
rtatwk 09-19-2011, 02:22 PM OK I have it worked out at least a little. Yuyi says she is coming along for sure. So I will be there early Friday afternoon and will now be 2 for dinner at the Outback. If Ronnie decides to come up he, or he and Mercy, can be an add on and maybe he can park his 38 next to the Carretera Saturday.
Can you say Happy Hour? Sure...I thought you could.

Villain281H 09-22-2011, 01:24 PM Sorry for my tardiness; been beyond busy with a lot of stuff. Only about a week to go until the show!
Skiny, can you PM me the final list by tomorrow? I need to get with Rick so we can figure out a location for your group.
So far, we're already at a record-breaking 928 vehicles as of Saturday the 17th. Now we just need mother nature to deliver some good weather and I'll be a happy camper!

skinyfisher 09-22-2011, 02:23 PM They are showing now in Pinellas County small groups here and there can you say xxxx or xxxx. Arrive Friday to clean for Saturday to drive home and clean again and this is fun right.
NO weather and no animals in route is the order of NPD for Oct 1 2011, I heard Derek give that order to one of his suppliers or else:poke::poke::poke:
airbrushing 09-22-2011, 02:45 PM Rolling out at 5am day of show. Anyone want to hook up at 75 and 56 and ride up together?:poke:
EdontheBeach 09-22-2011, 04:57 PM i'll still going sat. morn, but i'm not leaving until 6:30 or 7 to be there by 8:30 or 9
FL Kymino 09-22-2011, 05:45 PM Drove from S FL to N FL and back a few days ago and the XXXX were there but not real bad. That's why I drive up early!
blue81elcamino 09-22-2011, 07:01 PM Will be there on sat morn around 8 or 9!
rtatwk 09-22-2011, 08:16 PM As before. The plan is to arrive early afternoon Friday. I guess someone can point me to the cleaning station when I get there.
skinyfisher 09-22-2011, 08:22 PM That would be the Days Inn just outside your room.

Absolutely on the weather deal; we find someone that tags along the "R" word and you get a month in a Ford product!
As far as the animals, Silver Springs Park says no on that deal (unless of course you want to feed the wildlife there)!!
Derek
hotcamino 09-23-2011, 05:59 AM I have some guys staying at our Motel that live in GA., they go home on the weekends and tell me the flying critters would make a mess on my HOTCAMINO. They say I should spray the front end with "PAM"...I would spray the bumper, but the paint????? I don't want to spray the paint and have it turn dull or Krinkle-up and flake off. Who has the knowledge and expirience to give good advice?
rtatwk 09-23-2011, 07:57 AM Some of them used saran wrap on the front end coming to the Beach Blast. It seemed to work pretty good. But if you spray something on just use protectant. It will wash right back off for you. Someone can fill you in on using the Downey pads for cleaning. I like the Turtle Wax bug remover. I treated the whole front of mine with Perma Gaurd after it got totally bug blacked going to Orlando earlier this year. That seemed to make it easy for the rest of the late spring invasion.
skinyfisher 09-23-2011, 11:23 AM Just put it in a trailer than we will have someone to pick on for the weekend:poke:

sempercamino 09-25-2011, 10:16 AM When I went to Cocoa Beach,Seran Wrap worked real well for me.Still had to scrub some off.
Chris Nelson 09-25-2011, 11:03 AM I had a coolant leak of unknown origin,so I went ahead and replaced the water pump.while I was there I also replaced the fan clutch, radiator hoses & clamps, fan belts & thermostat housing.I hope that will take care of the problem.I also rewired my radio, working good now.all I have to do is clean it up for the show sat.We might be leaving a little earlier on fri,so we will have more clean up time fri.
69 SS396 09-25-2011, 12:47 PM A kid from down the street swears by "Pam".
(The spray, not Miss Anderson)
My paint is a little less than perfect so I'm gonna try it.
skinyfisher 09-25-2011, 02:30 PM Pam is to greasy and more work to clean off, a good wax and couple of coats of detail wax and seran wrap or a shrink wrap helps the front end but no way to protect the windshield and trim. It is a cleaning job any way you slice it.
I use dryer pads (bounce or equal) just wet with spray to take off the first layer if bad enough. It will leave a film and than detail wax or water. Its all work period.
airbrushing 09-25-2011, 02:31 PM Bugs are not the problem as much as rock chips! For bugs, I carry a spray bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide. Spray bug, wait 30 sec. body dissolves, wipe off...harmless on paint. An old detailer trick i use at my shop....especially on love bugs.:poke:
Chris Nelson 09-25-2011, 06:58 PM Randy, what time are you leaving Friday ? Do you want to follow us up from Palm bay ? We will be leaving sometime between 10 am & 1pm.
rtatwk 09-25-2011, 07:39 PM Chris I would like to leave close to 11. We can travel together if you like. Do you plan to cross over and take the pike or do I95 and RT40?
Chris Nelson 09-26-2011, 07:29 AM How about 192 to turnpike to 75 to 40 ? 11am is good, where do you want to meet ? We usually meet people at the parking lot at 5 guys where they have the car show. Won't be able to go back with you though because we're going to Gainesville after the show Saturday, visiting my sister.
rtatwk 09-26-2011, 08:49 AM Thats fine. I am staying Saturday night too to take the liesurely drive home Sunday morning. I just have to make sure my girlfriend gets here Thursday to leave at that time on Friday. I'll let you know.

464elky 09-27-2011, 04:59 AM Arrive thursday, 3 for dinner, leave after show Saturday.
464elky 09-27-2011, 02:17 PM Weather forecast for Ocala: Looks like Saturday is going to be perfect - again this year!
Thursday: Some clouds and possibly an isolated thunderstorm in the afternoon. High 91F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%.
Friday: Partly cloudy with a stray thunderstorm. Highs in the low 90s and lows in the upper 60s.
Saturday: Sunny. Highs in the upper 80s and lows in the low 60s.
skinyfisher 09-27-2011, 02:48 PM OK you have put the burden on yourself by giving the weather report, Ihave been watching for a week on the extended NOA and others. Your are right and now you must be right or some 900 other guys will be looking for the guy who SAID . Just to show that I am willing to take the punishment also I say the same and second the motion and Randy and Tony And Lenny are also in there by association to us. Now we have 5 guys in the it better be category.
EdontheBeach 09-27-2011, 04:33 PM i've been watching the weather since saturday and it looks to be a perfect day - what news about road bugs? am i gonna need the saran wrap again?
pongo 09-28-2011, 02:09 AM Well I am east bound and down(I-24), loaded up and trucking. I going to do what they say hasen't been done. That is take a road trip in the Elcamino. Well I am on my way to Florida and this is the first long trip this ElCamino has ever been on. The longest trip from home it has ever been on, in it's 33 years is 153 miles. Wish me luck ,and hope to see you for dinner Friday night.
Carretera 09-28-2011, 03:39 AM I'm trying Saran wrap, when you are driving a shoebox with a frontal area as big as the bed of an elky you need all the help you can get!
I already got the tickets I needed from Edonthebeach and SS396, thanks friends :smileyb:.
69 SS396 09-28-2011, 04:38 AM Pongo, good luck with the trip. Your Elky will love it.
Tony, your welcome.
pongo 09-28-2011, 01:49 PM we made it with no problems, no traffic much, no bugs(?) and about 18 mpg to boot.
skinyfisher 09-28-2011, 03:32 PM Dinner Friday is at "OUTBACK" ON SR40 ABOUT 2 MILES BEFORE THE SILVER SPRINGS PARK and hotels Days Inn 6:00 PM.
Saturdays meeting time 7:15 in the front area of the Days Inn across the street from the Silver springs Park or in the Club Staging area about 100 yards after you clear the registration checkin lines. we will group up and all that are there by 7:30 will head in and park. If your late just go right in and tell any of the parking staff who your are with and the will direct you.
Weather for Saturday looks like a home run 83 for a high and the am low is 54, that's lower than we have seen for a while, to low for my t-shirt wardrobe, that easy to fix.
PONGO great your already here with no problems to report I think you made a good choice. OH by the way make sure you know the milage from home to the show as they have a long distance award most years.
