Carretera

Sunday April 24th I decided it was time to quit wishing I had a tri-five and get one, I joined a forum and started looking, by Tuesday I had found one in Dallas, Texas, today, Sunday the car is sitting in front of my house, it's Delray 150, 4 doors, 6 cyl, three on the three, the cheapest chevy built, now it has 62,000 miles, I'm the third owner. The car was driven from Dallas to Pensacola on Friday where I picked it up and drove home last night.
I drove my elky to Pensacola where the new owner (my son) picked up and drove/is driving) home with it today.
Contrary to what some might believe I still have two elkys a 1959 and a 1970, although they are models they are still elkys.

Good "ol 3 on the tree, I wonder how many people still know how to drive 1? We had 1(60 chev impala I belive?) a while back at the auction and the driver i put into it didn't have a clue how to shift it. A lot of kids growing up now can't even drive a clutch!! Then again, I'm still trying to master the "paddle shifter" they have on new cars now.

Have you ever driven an RX8?with a paddle shifter? What a mutt!! Paddle shifts are fine for a F-1 Ferrrari I guess? I'm not sure they belong on most new production cars however? I still like the feel of a good Hurst comp plus 4 speed in my hand with the t-handle. Better yet, the "pistol grip" of the old mopars.

Tony , we are very happy that you got what you have been wishing for so long . Maybe after a while you may decide to turn it into an El Camino and cut out the back and put in a bed ? NOT !! Try and put up some photos and when do we get to see it ?

Gee I learned to drive with a 3 on the tree in a 61 Chevy P/U! The paddle shifters in my Beemer are not the least bit muttly! I use them once in a while but shift with the stick more often if I do drive it in manual mode. 0-60 in like 3.6 secs is not muttly! Since it is mostly my highway car, It stays in Auto mode more often. I drive my Cabby around during the week when I am home.
Enjoy the ride Carretera! I have faith that you will be driving another Elky soon enough!

I also learned how to drive in a 3 on the tree..It was a 57 Ranchero ..Also had a 68 Falcon with the 3 on the tree..Those were easy to drive back then..I think kids would get confused in them things now lol...Have a good time in your new toy..

:driving: Hell Yes!
This is the beneficiary of my toys, my son. If I sound proud is because I am.
If I come across a '68/'69 SS 4 speed for a good price I'll probably get in another fight with my wife and buy it.

The sad part is most kids now a days don't even know how to drive a 4 speed Muncie. Luckily I learned how to drive on a Muncie that my dad had in the 90's lol. If there wasn't a ball on top with the gear pattern they would even know where reverse was lol
