acauth1 an exhaust question

Robert I was looking at the pics of your motor and saw that you were running the stock exhaust manifolds on your LT1. Need some info if you don't mind.

Did you do the rest of the exhaust or did you have it done?

Are you running the catalytic convertors?

Was there any problems with doing the exhaust using the stock manifolds? Finding the flanges to mate up etc?

I've had another set of cats go bad on my El. With running the long tubes its hard to get a place to work on it here in Cali. I'm thinking of installing the impala manifolds that came with the motor and going for a full legal system. The stockers would also quite it down some which I think the neighbors would like. LOL I was thinking of a set of legal shorties for an Impala or Camaro but they come up into the bay before going down and I don't know if I would have the clearance for that on the passenger side. So I figure I'll cleanup the stockers, maybe get them coated to look nice and then go from there. If you have any pictures of your El from underneath showing your setup I would really like to see them.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Rob

Rob, the manifolds are from a 95 Z28. And, I also had the flanges that came with the manifolds. The setup is 2 1/2 aluminum pipe through crappy Flowmaster Delta Flows, no cats and a crossover. I notched the crossmember and then had an exhaust shop bend and hang the pipe. So far, it has worked out great aside from the mufflers, (they are way too noisy at cruising speeds.)

When I built the car we had no emissions testing on the horizon, however, we will have it in the near future so I will be forced to do something different. (I have no emissions on the car either.)

I went with the stock manifolds for simplicity's sake, and I hate changing header gaskets every couple of months.
