Thanks. I ve been looking in this section with the lsi and lt1 swaps.working on the body (frame off) in the gararge on lift. northeast car = lots of sheetmetal panels bottom up!.Frame in driveway ,engine trans in the corner plain jane 350,350 trans. I have a lt1 96 i think. needs to be looked at it ran ok missing acc stuff no harness, comp, trans.I like the idea of a overdrive trans, fuel injection, I also have some other 350 4 bolt engines 70s . So 1800.00 for the ls1 300hp+ nerd.Or rebuilding the lt1 finding trans and top of engine crap and pully hangers, harness, computor, nerd.or get a injection kit for old 350 beefed up, harnness, comp kit ,trans (overdrive) what do you guys think would be the best way to go?

I swapped in a 99 ls1/6speed back in 02. Cut & reboxed crossmember to clear f- body pan , notched frame to clear ac-do NOTreuse late model ac compressors-, made mounts, modified accessory drive, sent off factory harness tobe modified, used 99 f-body fans, misc parts brought&made local. There is a currently released swap book in bookstores. get it& get it done. Do your research& get the best engine you can afford leaving enough$ for swap parts. You have many more premade options than I had in 02', plus all theinternet& forum access. Now get with the ls club. your right foot & your gas card will thank you.:poke:

I second that. You will love the power and fuel mileage from these motors. The 5.3 is called the LQ4, BTW. Lot of differences, though the basic design is the same.

...actually the 5.3 has a few codes. Most common iron block is lm7, there is also an al block hipo one coded l33. The lq series of engines are 6.0 liter motors. Same stroke just a much larger bore. 364 cubes.

Ah, ok. I thought all the truck blocks were "LQ" designation. Thought the 6.0 was lq9. Thanks for the correction. I only have experience with the "LS" versions of these motors.

Been doing some research on the ls1 options, the 97,98 ls engines 5.7s keep away from. The oil circulation was not to good and was changed in 99 you could see the change on the back of the block above the crank they made the oil passage bigger. The 99 had alot of knocking from the rods when cold and got quieter when it warmed up,the heads you have to see if there marked 704 they crack because of a manufacturing defect. The LQ4 truck engine is cast 88LBS heavier than the aluminum blocks (no big deal to me)just change the cam and get some nice HP add some heads and get more.Is there a problem with using a cable for the throttle body in the 70 elco with the LQ4 intake I read something about using an LS2 car intake getting a kit to move the Idler pully changing the brackets for the alt,ps acc- cutting off the old ider pully location custom water pump and a new belt, and using a smaller 75 cc throttle body?I dont want to go (on the fly)with the gas.Can I get a harness made up for this engine w/a comp.
