the last few days the windshield wipers have been having problems ever since i put the '83 front clip/wiring harness back on. the wipers will work on high in the off and low position and when the switch is turned to high theyll go up and down a little bit until i stop the car. i put in another wiper motor i know works (you all probably know how much fun that is) and it still does that. anyone have any advice? this car is really getting on my nerves lately...

sounds like mmt, man made trouble. recheck all your connectors for your wiper switch, make sure nothing is reversed, or lacking a ground for the motor. hope you can drive again in the rain soon, lol.

I concur. You will find diagnostic info here. (http://elcaminocentral.com/modules.php?name=News&new_topic=3)

well i don't know what it was but i took the wiper motor out again ( ),checked the bulkhead, made sure i tightened all the wiper motor bolts (even the stupid bottom one) and even put in a new fuse for the wipers and the are back to normal. just in time for another storm too!

the ground for the wiper motor/relay is connected throgh the metal lug that the bolts go through to hold the motor in place. when you tightened up the bolts, you probably made a better contact to ground. i remember when i replaced my motor there was a black wire that connected to one of the through-hole lugs that mounted the motor to the body. maybe it was loose and not making good contact. Also: after i installed the new wiper motor, it was intermittantly working. I took off the plastic cover and found a yellow wire loose that went to a solenoid or relay that was not plugged in. hope this helps :)
