Hi all. I need some conformation on the wires that connect to the side of the hei cap. My ?,s are, is the color of the wires in the connector supposed to match up with the colors of the coil wires? Mine are yellow, black in the middle and red on the other end. Its my impression that the red wire should connect to the red wire coming from the coil and yellow to yellow, black to black. Also the where the wires enter the side of the dizzy, they change position going in. A couple of days ago I ran across a diagram of where all the wires go to going into the dizzy all the way through the coil and up to the cap using the 4 prong module. Kind of like an wiring diagram for a harness but I dont remember where I seen it. Sound familiar to anyone? I had a broken post on the old cap and when I went to change out the old coil to the new cap I spied the red and yellow wires crossed in the old cap. The car ran with the bad post and crossed wires in the cap but it ran rough. Just wanted to know for sure before I put the thing back togather again that its right so I dont damage and thing. I would buy the right cap for your El Camino and it should be all good. Doug

red to red and yellow to yellow. It will run when crossed but not have the fire power it should.

Thanks for the help. Bought a new cap, switched the wires to red on red, yellow on yellow, started her up and she runs much smoother.:nanawrench: It sure is nice to have some where to turn to for help!
