Hey, not sure if this has been answered before, I can't imagine it hasn't been, but I can't find it.

How do you get a DIN radio in the panel where the old school 2 knobs + little screen radio was? I found this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Radio-Stereo-Aftermarket-Install-Mount-Trim-Dash-Kit-/220788803474?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AChevrolet|Model%3AEl+Camino|Year%3A198 5&hash=item336809c792

Now do I cut the panel to make it fit? Or is there a kit available?

Goodcruiser has the right idea, but here's one for $10 cheaper. I'm not sure if they have your color but you can call them

Those both say 86-87, I got an 85, not sure if it makes a difference. But how do I hold the radio in place? That plastic isn't strong enough

The ABS mounting kit like you showed will hold the radio, the faceplate that I showed you will finish it off.The faceplate is the same as yours except that the 86 or newer has the DIN type of opening and you can save the original if you want.
I was only concerned with showing the part that you needed not with the price or how it is finished,I figured I would let you find and decide what was best for you.
If you have to paint to match your interior you can find these cheap in a wrecking yard.
