: ALL CHEVY NIGHT Western PA/Pittsburgh Gathering
Pa_IndianRider 05-31-2011, 05:51 PM Just a reminder to everyone in the Pittsburgh/Western PA area .... we are going to meet at the StarLite Cruise this Friday (June 3)which is ALL CHEVY NIGHT
The Starlite Car Cruise is 20 miles north of Pittsburgh in Wexford, PA at North Way Christian Community.
The cruise is held every Friday 5:30pm to 9:30pm until Labor Day.
Over 1000 cars attend this weekly cruise. So Starlite should be a way for us to meet & plan for other places & times to meet this Summer.
Hope to see you there.... and hope there is NO MORE RAIN!!!!
bgblockelcamino 05-31-2011, 08:38 PM i have a wedding to attend in harrisburg this weekend, sorry won't be able to make it this week.
BillyJack 06-01-2011, 06:55 AM Barring anything unforeseen, I should be there. I dragged the Camino out of hibernation over the weekend and have been driving it all week. I won't be able to leave Bridgeville until 5PM, so ETA at Wexford should be about 5:45. Will I still be able to find a spot?
Bill
Pa_IndianRider 06-01-2011, 07:56 AM Hopefully..... My EL C is not road worthy at the time.... will be going in my wife's SUV and will have to park in the spectator's lot. :dontknow:
Hopefully some other ECC members will be going & will be able to save parking spots for others??????
See you on Friday. "THINK NO RAIN" for a change !!!!!
Pa_IndianRider 06-01-2011, 08:28 AM ...... I won't be able to leave Bridgeville until 5PM, so ETA at Wexford should be about 5:45. Will I still be able to find a spot? Bill
BTW Bill..... each week the featured cars get "preferred parking" so I am sure you'll find a spot in the lower lot.
Gina & I have never been to a Starlite Cruise Nite but it must be a "huge" place. If the rain wouldn't have washed out the first couple of hours of last Friday's "Opening Night" they were expecting 3000 cars!!!! Even with all the rain they still had close to 1000 cars.
It's hard to imagine a "weekly cruise" attracting so many hot rods, muscle cars, customs etc. etc. week after week... year after year.
A bad night is 1000 cars!!!! It's like going to a national event. We're lucky to have such a great place to go to that is so convenient for all in the Western PA/Pittsburgh area.
moterhead 06-01-2011, 09:57 AM I'm still trying to get off work on Fri.,but as of right now I can't get a vacation day.
BillyJack 06-01-2011, 10:12 AM I haven't been to Starlite since 2006 or so. I used to manage a dealership in Wexford, so I'd take my Camino to work and just have a short drive up Rt 19 once I closed the store. Back then, 400 cars was a good night. With the design of the lot, featuring grass strips between the rows, it was one of my favorite spots. Just a more comfortable atmosphere than just acres of hot black asphalt. Also, you'd see a bunch of different stuff that you didn't see in the Pittsburgh South cruises such as Caste and Mineral Beach. For anybody who's coming, PM me and we can exchange cell numbers so we can locate each other at the cruise.

Pa_IndianRider 06-04-2011, 04:51 AM ALL I can say is "WoW!!!!
What an amazing place to have a cruise.... another BIG PLUS is the Church opens up the front doors so cruisers ..... places to buy and eat in air conditioned comfort.... vendors .... give-aways.
Not sure how many cars were there but aside from a national event (like Good Guys - NHRA - NSRA etc events) I have never been to a show/cruise where that many cars/truck/motorcycles gathered in place.
I REALLY DID under-estimate how difficult it was going to be to "hook-up" with other El Camino owners at such as LARGE event!!!
In our "haste" to get there early I left BillyJack's cell phone on the table in the family room. Daaaaaaah!!!!
But I figured what the heck.... I know what the cars look like, the owners will be looking for me, plenty of time to bump into each other, etc, etc, etc....
Double daaaaaaaah!!!! Never hooked up. Being we got there so early we left somewhat early as well.... right before BillyJack called.... triple Daaaaaaaah!!!!
If I had to do this over again (and we do...ha!!!) would schedule the meeting event/place at a much smaller venue.
So I apologize for "blowing-it" but with the great 70 degree weather, partially sunny skies and over 2000 cars I am sure everyone did enjoy themselves.
I was able to chat with quite a few "non-ECC" EL C owners. None of whom knew about the ECC website. So that was good to hopefully get a few more people interested in gathering in the future.
The CHEVY SHOW sponsored by the area's Corvette Club at COLUSSY CHEVROLET (america's OLDEST Chevy Dealership) will be a PERFECT PLACE to meet.
NUMBER ONE: BillyJack works there and told me he can get us a reserved area which will eliminate the "lost-in-the-crowd" which happened last night at StarLite.
The date for the Colussy show is JULY 31st..... MORE about this later.
Please check back here from time to time as I will be posting "where to be info" as it develops.
Enjoy the GREAT WEATHER this weekend..... See you guys later!!!!
BillyJack 06-04-2011, 07:56 AM Unbelievable!
The cruise has more than doubled in attendance since I was last there back in '06. Well over 1000 cars. Other than just a single '59, there was an assortment of Caminos from every generation. Whatever vehicles turn you on could be found there, from Duesenberg to Studie Hawk to Chrysler Airflow, Ford retractable, bagged Buick wagon etc.,etc.,etc. Only shortcoming was a definite lack of fart-pipe imports and I can live with that. Spent a very enjoyable evening with Mr. & Mrs. rtomei83, comparing notes and stories on our Caminos. With regard to the Colussy Show, date is Sunday, July 31. I've attached some files from the club with categories and judging rules. We keep the front of the dealership open for those who want to display their vehicles without the commitment to stay all day for judging. If there's enough interest, I could ask the organizers to set aside an ECC area. Let me know.

YES.... It is a GREAT cruise.... by comparison there is no other cruise that comes close. I could see us trying to meet up there again. Next time I need to have everyone's phone numbers and have them in my cell... ready for action.
Yes I did see your car... and came past it quite a few times hoping someone would be there. Never did see anyone by Billy's car either ... as fate would have it our timing was bad. I really liked the red 1st gen. It's not as much fun without your car.
Doubt we can make the Beaver Cruise.
Have a family event plus if I don't get started on the EL C I am never going to get anything done

Randy,
You're close enough to stock that you can register in class #22, pre '87 stock truck. You can register in advance or on the morning of show day. I registered the day before and was entrant #1, so I guess everybody usually signs up on Sunday morning. Only problem I can see in your class would be if someone shows up with a meticulous restoration on a 50's-60's pickup. The number of trophies per class is determined by the number of entrants. Too bad we won't be in the same class, as I would enjoy seeing the judging if we went head-to-head. You'd have me beat stone cold with your flawless paint & chassis, but I might get some points back on interior and engine compartment. PM or call me if you need any more info.
