i have soem stupid assignment for school to bring in cool poems and stuff, and i was out playinw ith my car when i remebered if someone had asked me if i had named my car. i hadn't, and they'd given their car some female name, now if i was a 70's muscle car i'd be insulted with woman name, but then again i wouldn't wnat to look gay having aman name and a man driver, so instead i'd preffer to be a beast or extension of some kind, so i came up with this crap poem type thing for class with a few excuses on why i wouldn't name my car after a lady;

I refuse to insult my car with a woman’s name,
for my car is not a woman.
My car is indeed a part of me.
When I get in my car I am no longer me,
and my car is no longer itself.
I become the brain of the new being,
Controlling every maniacal move it makes.
The wheels, my arms and legs,
The motor, my heart and soul.
The headlights are my eyes,
And the body, the skin of the beast.
Therefore I refuse to name my car as a lady,
for ladies don't fart and brag like the exhaust does!

I refer to my Ely as a "Plain Jane" model, as it lacks most of the fancy trim that make the Classic models distinctive. A word of caution perhaps.
If there is a woman in your household whom you might describe as your significant other, be careful about uttering the names of other females around home. In a fit of frustration, I once said "Geez Louise". My wife then asked me who Louise was. ;-)

right now, my car is named after a horse in a movie....'Black Beauty'

although when I get the car repainted it will probably not be black anymore, but perhaps its factory color of silver....

maybe then I can name it after the Lone Ranger's horse! :P

Hey Jonathan - That's pretty good poetry! Keep working on it and when you find a young woman who interests you as much as your Elky, write something for us about how you feel. That was a pretty good expression of your thoughts about your auto and I hope the teacher gave you a decent grade.

However, don't ignore the "Cap and Punc" rules -- and spelling -- when you post or write poetry. Because they are signs of respect for your readers, don't break these rules. There are lots of other ones to break. Keep on writing!

Thanks, I've written some before that I've been told is good, been published in some books, one is actually on poetry.com, wrote it at a very crappy time called "A Tree with Two Trunks". But hey thanks, and i have met a girl liek that, but she lives far away so she doesnt get as much attention as the elky yet :P , cool kid though, i appreciate the support, I'll let you know if i think of anything else.

i refer to mine as "the monster" on good days, but other times i use a series of four letter words which i think you all already know

A while back the click and clack web site asked whether folks thought of their car as male or female. I answered with the example of our two BMWs--wife's 84 320i was the female, took a lot of finesse and cereful touch to get any serious action. My much modified 81 528i was not only the male, but likely the alpha male in the household. It's a kick ass daily driver that has embarrassed newer cars on the track too.

Well I have lots of names for my car depending on if they are male or female. My 1978 El Camino's name is Ellie cause it is a Beep and definetly female. It has cost me more money than I would have imagined but well worth it. Than my 1979 El Camino's name is Elmer I know wimpy name however I let a friend of mine name it and that is what he picked out. However it is a male car cause he is a pretty decent car but has the aches and pains that most hard working guys get. Than my 1992 F150's name is Silver cause I was passing a car and the truck is silver I just named it that. Than my 1989 Ford Probe name is Blue Lightning. The car is blue and I will have blue undercarriage lights on it very quickly unfortanately I cannot have them on while driving. So anyways I have names for my cars and that just lets people know that I am kinda different. Have fun with those names

Well I'm a little insulted I think. Don't worry though ,I'll get over it. I am a hot female with an equally hot car. Her name is Buffy ,and she's the fastest thing around .She was born in 1982 .But she'll always be my baby.

All El Camino that I've owned,
have shared "Elly" as their name.
She's a girl I knew from High School times,
who's precious memory will never wane.

We spent our entire 16th summer
at the beaches on the bay.
Having such great times together,
in the sun and fun all day.

Each night we'd find a drink to share
on a blanket on the beach.
I was a willing student,
and how my lovely Elly could teach.

Her hair was red. Her passion hot.
Class she did not lack.
But Elly was not a refined lady,
