Hi, I'm in need of a new gas tank for my 1960 elky and finding one is not coming easy. But, finding a gas tank a 1960 chevy is easily done, however, the description for this item includes "except for wagaon and el camino"

The gas tank on my el camino is "U" shaped and from what I can tell, the reason for the U-shape is for the spare tire that mounts under the bed. Is this a reasonable guess?

Well, I don't have a spare mounted and nor do I plan to mount one, so, with that in mind, would it be possible to mount a different 1960 tank. I figure adjustments will need to be made to take gas from the filler neck into the tank.
