Heidi and I would like to invite you ALL to a BBQ at our house on Saturday August 27 --- this is the weekend after the Sturbridge Show and the weekend before Labor Day weekend.

We have a very large place with parking 20 – 30 cars including the lawns (I’m not a fanatic about the lawn !)

There is a huge lake in the back yard so bring your canoes or kayaks and definitely your bathing suits. If you’re into camping bring a tent and sleeping bags, for sure --- and stay over.

We would like to start early ---- we’ll have breakfast food and coffee too. And then start cooking burgers & dogs & chicken etc late morning. To make it interesting there is a small, informal but Excellent Car Show http://www.plymouthwaterfrontfestival.com/car_show.html near the waterfront in Plymouth, about 5 miles from my house, in the afternoon – 2PM – 4PM . The reason I love this show is because it is short and sweet – and they have a great live band for the 2 hours.

I thought we could all cruise down together to this show for a couple of hours – WOW the crowd with all of our Elkys – and then come back to my place for more food, fun, and swimming afterward.

Heidi asked how many people are you inviting --- I told her “well I guess I’m inviting around 20,000”…. She didn’t think that was funny – so we would love to hear from all of you who are planning to come.

That sounds sick. Unfortunately, I generally work Saturdays, something might workout though.

OK - so I didn't want repost this before the Sturbridge Show --- It was a GREAT Show as usual --- but now that we're home and its over - I'm promoting our BBQ for next weekend again. We recruited a few more people while we were at Sturbridge to come down for the day --- who else ?

We're trying to get an idea of how many muffins & donuts and sausage & buns and diet Coke & ice we'll need.

The long-range forecast is for a very nice Saturday - so "come on down"

Seriously, I had/have every intention of making your great sounding event, buuuuuuut, I'm sure your watching the weather closely. Unfortunately, the crap may start as early as Sat. PM. Just our damn luck huh. Guess you'll make a final decision soon. Keep me/us posted bud.

Also, was going to ask you to PM me your address so I can/could've mapped out the best ride up there etc.

Let's hope for the best, and that none of our homes get damaged. Still time for it to track a bit more east. Fingers crossed........

Hey Mark - glad to hear its still on your calendar... there are conflicting weather reports some say Sat will be nice and others say Sat will be rainy...hmmmm what to do ?

I guess we could rent a Duck Boat and play it safe.

Well I have my eye on it - I know how everyone feels about rain or even the chance of rain...

Lets give it another 24 -36 hours and see how this all develops.

I missed the Sturbridge show, and don't think I'll make your party, but it sounds great! So I'll have to talk online about what to do with my '82 El Camino. It's sitting in the garage right now.

Hey Tom , congrats on the PEOPLES CHOICE AWARD. You deserve it buddy ,talked to Heidi on Monday and said there might be a chance Lynn and I make the BBQ , but with the big storm coming and us going back to work on Monday I'll have to pass this year. Oh yea nice shirt by the way(el camino) I saw you wearing it in the pics from Sturbridge. God willing I will see you at Sturbridge next year.. Don:beer:

BBQ --- officially CANCELLED

The Weather Channel is saying that the rain could start in Plympton as early as 10 o'clock AM --- I know that I wouldn't consider taking el Bandido out with the odds of there being rain and wet roads.

And probably more importantly - most of us should probably be at home on Sat preparing for the the hurricane (whether it actually comes or not).... taking down and stowing umbrellas, tables and chairs - swings, hanging plants, battening down hot tub covers and trash cans.

We'll have to try to plan to have that BBQ another time...

But for now guys & gals, keep your cars dry and get ready for the storm !

Seems you made the right call bud. Feel bad for you and Heidi having made all that prep and expense etc. Believe me, I intended to relieve you guys of some Diet Coke and Cheeseburgers.
