: Heater control valve question elamott 07-13-2011, 03:22 PM My heater control valve is allowing coolant to flow into the heater core when the heater control is on cold. Does anyone know off hand if the vacuum opens or closes the valve? I have forgotten. Thanks elamott CANTED 07-13-2011, 03:30 PM Best I can remember, vacuum closes it. So you should have vacuum on cold, no vacuum on hot. Memory is not what it once was, someone else confirm this. darbysan 07-13-2011, 04:11 PM The valve closes using vacuum, and is open with no vacuum. Vacuum is applied anytime you are on MAX AC.
