Hello all,

I just picked up my first el Camino...a 1968 with the 350/350, PS, PB. It has the SS hood, and Malibu inner door panels.

Is there any way to identify whether or not is it really an SS? Is there a VIN decoder for this year?

Should tell you what you need to know. What I do know is that in 68 all SS's had a big block & I THINK disc brakes.

1968 is the only year that the VIN number will tell you if it is an SS El Camino.

If the second two numbers of your VIN are 38 then it is an SS El Camino.

This only applies to 1968.
