I am proud to announce that the Board has finished writing the rules for our annual calendar contest:

http://www.elcaminocentral.com/showthread.php?t=43506 (http://www.elcaminocentral.com/showthread.php?t=43506) ( They will remain a "Sticky" under the "Site Rules" Forum.)

We are very happy to have Robert (acauth1) back in charge of the calendar this year, and we expect the competition to remain on track this year, without undue outside influences. Submissions will be accepted during the period from midnight July 31, 2011 until midnight, August 31, 2011. Voting will commence at midnight on September 10, 2011, and will end at midnight on September 30, 2011.

Please study and adhere to the competition rules, and we'll have some great calendar products ready for your Christmas stocking. Any questions on the 2012 competition rules should be directed to kenrogers1. Technical questions regarding the underlying program components of the competition will have to be passed upward for answers, so please bear with me.

Brandon, a serious inquiry demands a serious response. I don't believe that I've ever seen an association, or business either for that matter, post up samples of their products that did not represent the best and the brightest of their symbolic icon or product. My thought is that we as an association post the peer-selected "stars" so that others may admire them and, if an owner, strive to perfect their own ride to the point where they might reach the "star" level. If I'm off-base in this reasoning, somebody please correct me.

If an association were to attempt a "Daily Driver" collection, where would the cutoffs be in the competition? Who would verify that it was indeed a "daily driver", as opposed to a 3 times a week driver? And who would purchase a calendar that represents less than the best we have to offer, aside from the individual owners whose cars are represented? I predict that the total sales for such a calendar would be equal to the number of daily drivers included within. And, the bottom line here is indeed the bottom line - we're in the calendar business to make a little money for the association. This may sound overly harsh, but it's just my opinion - I'm not speaking for the association...................Ken :poke:

Can we include a shot from Belton? A cover maybe, or back page. If you did one of those I'd say you'd sell at least 72!!!!:poke:

Hey Mike,

I am still new to this whole online chat thing. I am not sure how to post an independant thread yet. I am curious how many Bay Area owners know about or plan to attend the 50's Bash on Bethel Island? It is a down town show and they have music and food. I need to confirm the date but I think it is the 13th of August. Perhaps we could get a handful of guys to participate. What do you think?

TrannyMike, calendar must have 24 pages as I wrote the software and am in for 12 shots also but sense you got there first and would diffently not cheat I will go second.

Well I guess if everyone else is offering their $,02, I'll offer mine.
I have been lucky enough to get in a couple of calanders, so I am not entering this year, mainly because I am more than sure that there are many more Elkies here that are as good and much better than mine that deserve to be on the calander. I am looking forward to seeing them.
As to Donny's idea about the Belton meet. I am sure there a lot of regions out there that have some great pictures of their meets. So why not make a calander of the best meets around the world. I looked at the pictures from Europe for the "El Camino
Day" and they had some great Elkies that put mine to shame.
Again, just my $.02,
Mike:texas::dontknow:

We're not allowed to park oon grass? Did we have to have a engine and compartment shot or can it just be exterior?

kenrogers1
07-23-2011, 08:02 AM
An entry will not be automatically disqualified just because the Elky is parked on grass. The caution results from the fact that many colors do not photograph well against a grassy green background. That's certainly not true for some colors, and certainly not for burgundy or maroon. Some of my best photos of my Elky are against the green of a grassy lawn or show field. So, if you have a great photo, don't rule it out "just" because of a grassy background.

The rules are clear on engine and interior photos - NOT allowed this time................Ken

For those of you trying to figure out where and how to "pose" your car for calendar shots, take a look at this post from several years back. This member has some great backgrounds on most shots, the car is posed well, and the camera angles are excellent. There are, of course, some backgrounds that are just too busy or distracting from the Elky -- such as the large trains. But these shots might really inspire you to submit better work. There's a small bump in the road to the 2012 Calendar competition. The screen designer has omitted the ADD button that would allow members to upload their photos :poke: . As soon as Robert gets back online, we'll have that small glitch repaired and the contest will get underway. So, for now, sit on those photos and we'll get it fixed as soon as possible.............Ken

Let me remind everyone to please read and comply with the rules HERE (http://www.elcaminocentral.com/showthread.php?t=43506) for size and composition of your photos . Only two (2) photos per entry! Each photo submitted MUST have the member's Name, the member's user name on the Forum, the member's NECOA number, the Year, Make & Model of the car, and the City & State where the car is based. Enter this information into the "Caption" area of the entry screen in the order shown above.

Those of you who have trouble entering your photos, or need help with editing your information after entry, please contact myself, acauth1, or John Harris. Those who do not find an "ADD ITEMS" option along the left side of the Calendar screens, Please forward your photos, along with the required information, to myself at kenrogers1@sbcglobal.net , or acauth1 (Robert More) at acauth1@gmail.com , or to John Harris (John Harris) at necoa@verizon.com (necoa@verison.com) . It is much easier for us to deal with the photos transmitted through the eMail process, and easier for you to send the images.

If we all follow the rules, and ask for help when needed, this year will have the best ever crop of calendar Elkies!................Ken

There has to be some time to set the voting system up and make sure it works properly, Mike. Also, the information entered may have some errors that will be found by the ElKY owners. Besides, it's only 10 days, and we've tried to build in plenty of time this year so that the calendars will be available well before Christmas...................Ken

In addition to the PM sent to Skinyfisher and Ken Rogers , I would like to thank both of them publicly for all the effort they have made for all of us . They have encouraged , reminded us over and over to enter and offered all the assistance they could . Being totally out to lunch on photos , they received , picked out photos , sent in info and posted my photos . Elky 83 `s decision was very gracious . There are great rides in each generation and I want to wish everyone good luck . Whether we win or not , it`s all a blast . This is just one of the many reasons this is such a great site . :You_Rock:
