A couple of questions...First,can I use a power window requlator and window motor from a regal or monte for my 83 Elky? Second,I am looking to install a tach. So far I have the tach filter. What does the other end of the wire connect to that goes into the firewall? Thanks in advance!

One wire from the tach filter plugs into the "TACH" connector on your HEI distributor. The brown wire goes through the firewall. Just plug it in under the dash. There is a connector just above the ALDL. Here is a picture of it.

The guts out of the doors are the same as long as both doors have power windows with exception of the glass.

Hey 87ElCamino;

I know where there is a gauge pod w/tach in a local salvage yard...Is there an easy way to test it on site to make sure it works before plunking down my hard earned cash only to get it home to find out I've wasted my money?

None that I'm aware of...how much are they asking for it?

I agree. You can't test the tachometer unless you have a distributor pulse. Although, you can bench test one with a 12V supply and a pulse generator.

If it's any encouragement, I've pulled a lot of them from junkyard MCSS's and I've never found one that didn't work. Make sure you get the tach filter and all of it's wiring including the firewall grommet. Unplug it from under the dash and from the distributor.
