Post here ONLY if you are attending EL Camino Night at the Lee USA Speedway this Friday the 22nd. Please post your first and last name, town and state, year and color of your el camino. I would like to start the list to give to the PA announcer so when we circle the track he has something to say!

103 degrees in New England yesterday! The horrible heat kept most of the fans and many of the racers home from Lee USA Speedway last night in New Hampshire. But ten Elkies did make it to the track for El Camino Night, had a great time and please the fans in attendance. In fact, we had more El Caminos on the track than the race cars in some of the features!
Rick Hapke (Hey Crabman) was our event coordinator again this year and led the members around the track for about ten minutes of parade laps and burnouts while the track announcer introduced each car and driver. The announcer had a copy of our official NECOA flyer, which he read over the PA system and talked about how unusual the El Camino was and why we love them so much. This really got a great response from the crowd. Track promoter Robert Watkins was really happy with our participation and he stood out on the track to encourage each one of us to do burn-outs for the cheering spectators.
We will post some more pix later this weekend to share our fun with all of you!

Great report, John. Even the heat cannot keep a good Elky down!
This is the kind of public exposure that will raise the profile of our rides, as I have been discussing in other posts. (http://www.elcaminocentral.com/showthread.php?t=43581) If we can multiple these efforts around the country and abroad, we will see the value of our rides gradually climbing. There are absolutely no "mechanical" reasons for the disparity in value between, say, a '68 SS-396 Elky and a Chevelle equipped the exact same way. This is the reason that I continue to preach on the subject. Let's all work to raise the visibility of the El Camino/Sprint brands!

Best El Camino night ever! Lots of fun around the track and burnouts galore! We were out there a long time...must have done about 15-20 laps. Thanks John for the pictures and letting my friend drive your car around. He will be talking about this for a while. What we need now is a video!
