Will IROC wheels fit on a 83?
Just bought it today, v6 auto no power windows or locks got the original bill of sale. It cost almost 11,000. Hard to believe 21 years ago

I think you need to use four front wheels to have the proper backspacing, or you could buy a spacer for the rear wheels.

I've got a set of Trans Am GTA wheels that I'll be installing on my Elky. The GTA wheels have a different offset front to back. I believe the IROC's do also. I am waiting for 1/2 inch wheel spacers so I can install the back wheels on the back and the front wheels on the front, if you want to wait about a week, I'll let you know if this works. If the Iroc wheels are the same offset as the GTA's, try putting the front wheels on the rear with a 1/4" spacer, and the rear wheels on the front, (with a 7/16" spacer). Do not place the wheel balancing weights on the backside of the wheel outer wheel edge as this may come in contact with the tie rod end...either put the weights on the outside of rim (not good for wheel appearences tho) or use the stick on weights on the inner rim. I believe the orignal setup came with 1/4" wheel spacers on all four wheels on Camaro IROC's and Trans Am's (as I have a set of four) most of these spacers get tossed or lost when the wheels are sold. There are other things that come into play, such as if you've lowered your Elky, especially in front, the wheels may clear, but the tires may rub, (especially on hard turns) picking the right width tire may prevent the tire rub. There is another alternative to putting the back wheels on the back, that would entail "notching" the rear outer frame rails. It would allow for placing a 10" width tire on the back of the Elky, depending on how much you notch the frame. To do this correctly and safely would require some welding to be done. Buick GNX wheels which appear to be identical to GTA wheels are in fact not. GNX wheels are the same offset on all 4 wheels, and will fit nicely on an Elky, however finding a set is not easy. There are aftermarket wheels being made (Japan), but when you find a place that lists them in their catalog and contact them, they tell you they are out of stock or have discontinued carrying them. You may want to try Year One for front IROC wheels and use a set of 4 fronts.

I found a set of 4 IROC wheels for 150 with good tires but I don't want to mess with spacers etc. Sounds like I'll pass.

Be careful with those wheel spacers, they're not very secure. I had a '72 duster w/ spacers on the cragars, one of the wheels let go and tore up the quarter pannel :o
