I hav a 78 el camino and im having trouble decoding the trim tag the numbers are
78 1AW80 D191342
9v A52 15L 15U
05D 0506 D91 15L
19U
Any help will be appreciated thanks

Hey Bert. Here you go. Not sure why your Body number plate has two sets of paint codes. Doug
78 = Year 1978
1AW80 = El Camino
191342 = Production sequence
9V = might be 19V =Black Vinyl interior
A52 = Bench seat
15L = Silver poly Lower body color
15U = Silver poly Upper body color
05D = Build date May 4th week
0506 No clue
D91 = Two-tone paint Special
15L = Lower color Silver poly
19U = Upper color Black

Z = plant Fremont
121535 = production number
62V = Trim DK. Camel Tan Vinyl
A52 = bench seat
69L & 69 U = Paint color Dark Camel Poly U = Upper L = Lower
128 690530 don't know these numbers

I've been told those extra numbers are factory sequence numbers that mean nothing once it leaves the factory.
