Well its always something ,isn't it. My air ,after some minor issues, has been working great, till a few days ago ! My wife and I were riding along and getting too cool so I cut the temp down. It was already on normal air and when I cut the temp control down about 20% we got a smell that I say is anti-freeze. My wife says it smells sweet, which I say IS anti-freeze . I think that the heater core is probably just starting to leak and therefore the smell. I assume when you cut the temp down it simply opens the blend door ? Thanks for any help. WP

Bypass the heater core now, keeping in mind you'll need to get it changed or repaired by winter. You already could be getting damage where the antifreeze is leaking, like maybe under the passenger side carpet. I'm not sure of the exact location of the core in your model.

If you have a repairable brass/copper core in it now, I'd get that one repaired instead of buying a newer aftermarket core.

A 5/8 to 3/4" plastic bypass should be what you need. this was the last straw with my old ac, before i did an entire aftermarket swap.

I blocked it off and checked with the GM dealer I buy some parts from and GM no longer supports t. Autozone has it for 24 bucks with lifetime warr. but I'm going to our local LakeSide Radiator supply Mon. for hopefully a better one. Thks
