so far the only inexpensive way to lower the rear seems to be to cut the coils

got the info for that here
http://www.elcaminocentral.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=4380

now i need to replace the worn springs so i was looking for an inexpensive replacement. carparts.com has moog#6321 for a good price but thats stock height so i was looking for a moog replacement that would lower the rear like i'm doing to the front with the S-10 springs. in my searches i found this page:
http://jeffd.50megs.com/Moog_Spring_Page.htm

this page seems to have the info i'm looking for but i'm having trouble understanding it. the way i read it, it shows that the 6321's are the best bet considering load height, free height and spring rates. then i'll have to cut them. i'm hoping for a replacement that i wont have to cut. does this chart on the above page have a spring that would have a lower stance and i'm missing it? or am i reading it correctly?

Thanks in advance for the shared Wisdom :)

The previous ECC thread you were referring to was about cutting front springs, not rear springs. The rear coil springs for your Elky have a pigtail on each end. You can't cut the rear springs.

For a cheap but simple drop, you could heat the springs. You need to keep in mind that it does weak'in the springs. Not only that, but it also makes for a rougher ride. And if you do decide to heat them up, it takes a good eye to make sure they are even. I have done it for a couple of buddies of mine that couldn't afford to buy lower springs.

The only way to drop it 1" is to heat them but when doing this take into concideration that while acheiving your 1" as the coil cools down it will drop even more in about an hour. I droped mine 3" by removing the springs, cutting off what I needed and reforming the upper part of the spring with a torch and it worked very well and has not changed over two years and still rides very good.

Aftermarket springs are not to expensive.

I have never had much luck in heating springs to lower ride height. Usually it is extremely difficult to get the drop even on both sides and even if it was correct at first after the springs settle it sags on one side. Maybe my technique is incorrect but I think unless you have had a lot of experience like dude78ss it will be real hit and miss. I would suggest buying lowering springs--a complete set of four can be had for about $200
which I think is reasonable.
