I'm planning on putting this combo in my newly acquired 69 camino. I am having a 383 stroker built at this time w/ comp cams extreme energy 268h cam, edelbrock rpm intake, holley 750,msd ignition, distibutor, hedman headers into flowmaster super 40 mufflers. th400 trans w/ 2500 stall, shift kit.the Elco currently has a 12 bolt rearend-I was thinking about 3:73 gears.I am going to use it for around town cruising on weekends and I want it to have plenty of get-up and go. does this sound like a fairly well- matched package?any help is greatly appreciated.this website is the bomb!!

That is pretty close to what I have in my 76.
383 Stroker internally balanced W/6" Rods
Competition Cams XE268H Cam Kit
Edelbrock Performer RPM Heads
Edelbrock Performer RPM AirGap Intake
Edelbrock Performer 750 Carburetor W/Electric Choke
Proform Extruded Aluminum Roller Rocker 1.6:1 ratio
Pete Jackson Gear Drive
700R4 Transmission
GM/Spicer 8.5" Corporate 10 bolt W/ 3.73:1 gears open rear end.
I wouldn't put that in front of a THM 350 the 400 is a good choice but on the highway you'll be cranking out around 3100 RPM at about 65 Mph if you do not have an overdrive. But as far as power sounds really good. I'd go to a 1.6:1 rocker if I were you. What heads are you using, not the stock heads off a late early model GM are you? You'll need better than stock heads. Vortec heads or something better my advice.
I currently have stock heads but am planning on upgrading to vortec or one of the other brands. thanks for your input.

Include performance heads. Stock heads will seriously compromise your engine because of low compresion and poor flow. With the proper heads that's a 350-400hp combo.
