: Highpressure cutout switch?
HKDUP87 08-27-2011, 06:16 PM I just wired the high pressure switch on the compressor. I spliced into the black wire and when i plugged it in with the motor off the compressor clutch ingaged with nothing on. I started the truck with the air off but the clutch was still on . With in 30sec. the accumulator was turning white so i shut it down. I did a complete new system install and it's working fine till this. I can put it back the way it was but what could be the problem?
DONE DEAL DONNY 08-28-2011, 03:54 AM So with the pressure switch disconnected your system worked fine?
It turned white because the system was pumping but no air (fan) was blowing over the evap. coil. (white = ice)
I would think that your compressor is turned on by suppling it with 12 volts which is what it sounds like what you did?
Check and see if there is 12 volts to black wire that you cut and used.

Thats what i'm going to check. what i don't understand is before i put the switch in everything was ok. The compressor only turned on after i hit the a/c control inside the cab. I broke the circuit just before the plug to the compressor. That should have no effect to the compressor clutch till i turn on the a/c. No matter what i do to that wire or both wires it shouldn't have any effect to the clutch circuit till i send a signal from my ac controls.:dontknow:
DONE DEAL DONNY 08-28-2011, 06:45 AM Did you break the hot or the ground? Is the switch grounded? I wouldn't think so but a good Califorian can mess things up bad!!!!:poke:

fixitman1 08-28-2011, 06:57 AM Just asking but you know there is a sw for 134A and freon 12 if it has been converted order the 134A switch :texas:

Don't start i'm going fishing.:poke:
Looking at the wiring diagram i think the black i broke is hot. What's the simuble, a streight line black wire with what looks like two upside sausers and dead ends, ground?
Should i be breaking the green wire see diagram below.

test.
HKDUP87 08-28-2011, 07:26 AM see wiring should i be breaking the dk green wire just before the clutch?

I will double check. I thought i was carefull but like DDD SAID ABOUT CA. FLATLANDERS. You know what i looked up the switch but when i went to get it 2-3 days later i only gave them the info on my truck and they picked it out. I didn't tell them i was changing to 134a.
DONE DEAL DONNY 08-28-2011, 07:33 AM I can't pull up your wiring dia. your speakers keep showing up. But I wouldn't think it would matter unless your switch is grounded
P.S. here are some speakers!!!!!

I think i F UP. I didn't give them the switch i needed, i had them look it up. Bet you i got the 12R switch thats what would come up on their computer not the 134a switch. CA FLATLANDER DOES IT AGAIN.:banghead: Let's go fishing. Do you have a problem with heat on your amps?

Donny I think i have the wrong switch. Look under your reply. I put my reply there.:dontknow:

oreilly part#23961 cut out switch doesn't show 134a or 12.
HKDUP87 08-28-2011, 09:23 AM :banghead::withstupid::cali: 50/50 chance the plug i spliced fits both ways on the compressor, works now.
DONE DEAL DONNY 08-28-2011, 09:37 AM Now LEAVE it alone!!!!:poke:
I know you west coast people have to play with stuff till it's broke!!!!:poke:
Good job!!!!:nanawrench:

o.k. then can i go fishing? I posted mine HKDUP87
Jvarble 08-28-2011, 12:16 PM So what did you do? which switch or wire? i'm having just the reverse problem?
the only way mine will work is if i ground the green wire on the compressor?
HKDUP87 08-28-2011, 01:08 PM Everything was fine till i went ot splice the two wires from the high pressure switch on the back of the compressor that i installed. I unpluged the two wire plug on the compessor it has one green with stripe and one black. I cut the black wire just above the female connector and spliced the two wires from the h/p switch. So the h/p switch just connects the black wire i cut to complete the connection again. With nothing on not even the key, i plugged the female plug back to the compressor and the clutch pulled in with out touching nothing. Started the truck with the a/c off and the clutch was still on. Pulled the plug off the h/p switch not the compressor plug and it still pulled in.:dontknow: I desconnected all the wires and reconnected it back the it was and the sucker still pulled in the clutch. FREAK OUT YEA.
Only thing i could think of was i plugged it in backwards at the compressor, flipped it around and it worked correctly so i spliced the h/p switch again and it only turns on the compressor when i turn the a/c on. Try flipping the connector on the side of the compressor it works both ways good and bad. Not to swift from G.M. If i didn't catch it i would have recked a complete new system.
fixitman1 08-28-2011, 04:44 PM I bought mine from Oreilly auto and the one i bought Does say 134A the part Number for the sw is
Mry 36674 Maybe my guys are better than yours ??? :poke: JUST a Note if you do not install the 134 Switch your A/C will cycle Way to much ..
Jvarble 08-31-2011, 11:32 AM Damn,,, I'm confused, my high pressure switch only says "Made in Taiwan" with two white wires.
and nothing about 134 which is what i used.
On the box it has 35961
